An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Computer Vision Systems Engineer to join a highly technical environment working across advanced computer vision, ML, high-performance video and GPU inference.
This is a foundational engineering hire. The business plans to build a dedicated engineering team around this person over the next 12–18 months, giving you significant influence over architecture, technology choices, engineering practices and future hires.
The Opportunity:
The existing technical foundations include:
- C++ camera ingest and multi-camera capture
- mrcal-based camera calibration
- Custom CUDA image processing
- Existing CV pipelines and GPU-accelerated processing
You'll maintain and evolve these foundations where required while building reliable production systems around increasingly sophisticated CV/ML models.
You'll work across:
- High-performance video processing
- Detection, tracking, ReID and pose estimation
- Object and ball tracking
- Movement and behavioural analysis
- GPU-accelerated inference
- Edge and cloud processing
- Application-facing APIs and services
You'll work closely with research-focused engineers to take models from experimentation through to reliable, scalable production systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Productionise computer vision and ML models.
- Build end-to-end video and inference pipelines.
- Optimise GPU inference and video processing performance.
- Work with Python, C++, CUDA, TensorRT and ONNX Runtime.
- Build scalable cloud GPU workloads and high-performance edge inference.
- Develop video decode/encode, preprocessing, batching and post-processing pipelines.
- Profile CPU, GPU, memory and network performance.
- Build APIs, monitoring, testing and deployment workflows.
- Make targeted changes to existing C++ systems.
- Help define architecture and engineering practices as the function grows.
- Contribute to future hiring and team development as the engineering team expands.
What We're Looking For:
- Strong Python development experience.
- Experience building production systems involving computer vision, video, imaging, robotics or ML inference.
- Strong Linux and systems engineering skills.
- GPU inference / accelerated compute experience.
- Exposure to TensorRT, ONNX Runtime and/or CUDA.
- Strong understanding of concurrency, multiprocessing, threading and performance optimisation.
- Experience building APIs, services and production deployment workflows.
- Experience integrating ML models into production.
- Comfortable working across multiple languages and runtimes.
- Enough C++ experience to read, debug and make targeted changes.
- Comfortable working autonomously and taking ownership of complex technical problems.
Desirable:
FFmpeg/GStreamer, hardware codecs, GPU video processing, multi-camera systems, camera calibration, PTP/time synchronisation, industrial cameras, cloud GPU workloads, Docker, distributed processing, large-scale video processing, Edge AI, React Native/native mobile capture, object detection, tracking, pose or ReID.
Why Join?
This isn't about joining an established engineering team and owning a small piece of a mature platform.
You'll be one of the key early engineering hires, with the opportunity to help build the foundations of the engineering function and shape the team that follows.
Over the next 12–18 months, you'll have the opportunity to influence architecture, technology, engineering standards, infrastructure, future hires and team structure.
It's an ideal opportunity for a senior engineer who enjoys ownership, autonomy and building things from the ground up, while working on technically challenging problems across Computer Vision, ML, GPU infrastructure, edge computing and cloud platforms.
