About The Role The Home Experience team at Reddit is responsible for maintaining and enhancing one of the platform’s most trafficked pages—the Home feed on both the Reddit app and website. This page acts as a destination and entry point for nearly all Reddit users, making its performance and user experience critical to Reddit’s overall success and growth. As a Senior Software Engineer in this team, you will lead technical initiatives to improve the Home feed, working with a diverse group of engineers, product managers, and designers. Your role involves designing scalable solutions, driving innovations, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality features that delight users. You will work at the intersection of technology and user experience, leveraging your expertise to help millions explore Reddit seamlessly and intuitively. This position offers flexibility for remote work within the United States, Canada, or Europe, or a hybrid model if located near an office in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York City, Toronto, London, Amsterdam, Madrid, or Berlin. Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience as a software engineer developing user-facing applications
• Proficiency with Kotlin for Android development and familiarity with GraphQL
• Experience working with product metrics, designing and analyzing experiments using tools like BigQuery, HEX, Firebase
• Knowledge of leveraging GenAI tools to enhance software engineering productivity
• Experience collaborating with ML engineering teams and integrating ML solutions is a plus
• BS degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
• Strong focus on user experience, usability, and social interactions
• Entrepreneurial mindset with self-direction, innovation, and bias for action
• Excellent communication skills, capable of working effectively in remote and cross-functional teams

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical lead for a high-caliber, inclusive engineering team
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and engineering teams to develop innovative features for the Home feed
• Drive improvements in developer workflows, implement best practices, and mentor engineering team members
• Participate in the entire development lifecycle: design, development, testing, experimentation, analysis, and deployment
• Review code, contribute to design documentation, and provide feedback on product specifications
• Lead planning, development, and implementation efforts across Reddit’s Android architecture, identifying major opportunities for enhancement
• Promote a culture of metrics-driven execution, operational excellence, and system observability
• Partner with senior leadership to shape strategic roadmaps and drive engineering and product initiatives that elevate the Home experience
