AGENCIES: Please, spare my inbox the pain and suffering. This posting is for individuals only, NOT agencies.

About The Company

Jollity Studios is a small team of experienced marketers, designers, and developers who provide website hosting, support, design and development to small- and mid-size businesses. Our mission is to build personal relationships with our clients while providing reliability, stability and speed to their projects & teams. Most important of all, we think it is important to have fun at work, which is why our company name means to have raucous joy and fun! We spend the majority of our waking weekday hours with our Jollity fam, and we want to enjoy it. That’s also why we offer health benefits, 401K matching, and unlimited PTO to full-time employees. Jollity is also a no-ego zone (for real, we don’t have time for that sh*t). We believe that most issues can be handled calmly and head-on, as stress will not resolve the issue faster. We are looking for like-minded individuals to join our team — those looking to build a relationship with our team, have fun at work, and tackle a variety of work quickly & skillfully so we can keep doing what we do best.

About The Role

This role blends front-end and back-end expertise, beyond simple site builds and UI components. The work is ongoing and production-focused: website updates, database optimization, landing page builds, responsive fixes, styling cleanup, troubleshooting builder issues, and third-party platform integrations (HubSpot, Mailchimp). The right person will be comfortable working in WordPress day-to-day, handling front-end changes across multiple websites, and stepping into theme edits and CSS customizations when needed.

Most of the work will be in WordPress, primarily on client sites that use Elementor, Divi, or Beaver Builder, with occasional front-end support in similar CMS platforms (Shopify, Craft CMS). This team member should be comfortable using page builders efficiently, but should also know when to solve a problem with custom CSS, HTML, JavaScript, and/or PHP code instead of forcing everything through the builder UI.

The best fit for this role is someone who can take a ticket, ask smart clarifying questions, make the change cleanly, test their own work, and move on to the next client task without a lot of hand-holding. This person should be comfortable jumping between several websites in the same week, maintaining quality under normal agency deadlines, providing thorough documentation of workflows and fixes, and periodically contributing to the agency's internal kbase.

Qualifications

  • Strong WordPress front-end experience on live client websites
  • Solid HTML and CSS skills, including responsive layout fixes
  • Practical JavaScript for front-end behavior and debugging
  • PHP server-side logic for refining or customizing functions
  • Plugin development understanding to resolve conflicts, etc.
  • Knowledge of proxy tools (Cloudflare) and DNS record structures (A, AAAA, CNAME, etc) for traffic routing and security
  • Understanding website migration from host to host
  • Understanding server environments (WP Engine, WPMUDEV, cPanel)
  • Strong knowledge of staging workflow and deployment best practices
  • Hands-on experience with popular builder platforms (e.g., Elementor, Divi, WP Bakery, Beaver Builder)
  • Ability to troubleshoot layout issues, spacing problems, responsive / mobile breakpoints, and inconsistent builder output
  • Clear written English and dependable communication during overlapping U.S. business hours

Bonus points for experience in any of these areas:

  • Shopify theme editing & customization
  • Git-based versioning workflows
  • AWS console and CLI
  • WooCommerce or eCommerce solutions
  • Database optimization
  • Performance optimization
  • Headless site build structures
  • Preferred tools like ClickUp, Slack, Missive, Google Workspace, and Figma

The Specs

  • Position Type: Contract, starting at 10-20 hrs/wk
  • Duration: 3-6 months (opportunity for regular retainer or W2 employment if right fit)
  • Experience: 2-4 years
  • Budget: $25-35/hour
  • Location: Remote, US or LATAM preferred (U.S. time zone availability required)

To Apply

Please include the following:

  1. A short summary of your WordPress front-end experience.
  2. Two or three live websites you personally worked on, noting what you handled on each one.
  3. Which builder(s) you have used most: Elementor, Divi, Beaver Builder, or others.
  4. A brief description of a time you had to go beyond the builder and solve a problem with CSS, JavaScript or PHP.
  5. Your hourly rate and current weekly availability.
