This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for an Engineering Manager, Privacy Engineering in the United States. This role offers the opportunity to lead a team dedicated to building privacy-first systems that protect customer data and ensure compliance with global privacy standards. You will oversee engineering efforts on critical systems, including data subject requests, data classification, cookie consent, and privacy settings. Your team will leverage automation, AI, and advanced privacy technologies to anticipate risks and prevent privacy-invasive events. Collaborating closely with Product, Legal, Security, and Engineering teams, you will influence technical and product strategy while fostering a culture of collaboration, ownership, and high-impact results. This is a chance to shape the future of privacy engineering in a fast-moving, high-visibility environment. Accountabilities

  • Lead and grow a team of 5-7 engineers, fostering individual ownership, accountability, and professional development
  • Build and maintain privacy-first infrastructure, automation, and user-facing controls that safeguard sensitive data
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, including Product, Legal, and Security, to ensure privacy is embedded into products from the ground up
  • Set technical direction, anticipate strategic and scaling challenges, and plan for long-term growth of the privacy engineering team
  • Drive execution on critical systems such as data subject requests, data classification, cookie consent, and privacy settings
  • Mentor engineers, enforce best practices, and cultivate a collaborative, high-performance team culture
  • Participate in on-call rotations to maintain service reliability and quickly address operational issues

Requirements

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 8 years of industry experience as a software developer, including 3+ years in an engineering management role
  • Experience implementing or leading initiatives in data minimization, differential privacy, secure data architecture, and data subject rights compliance
  • Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally to align technical execution with business and regulatory requirements
  • Experience managing teams operating production services with high reliability and uptime expectations
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, and team-building skills
  • Familiarity with privacy-enhancing technologies (PETs) and engineering patterns for consent, data flows, and access controls is a plus
  • Experience advising or implementing privacy practices for AI/ML systems, including model governance and privacy risk mitigation, is preferred
