The Role

We’re looking for a proactive Data Engineer who’s excited to take on multiple responsibilities and tackle a range of projects that will supply mission-critical data and insights for EatClub and our customers. You’ll join a team where you’ll have real influence, wide scope, and room to grow in a fun and rewarding environment. 

Key responsibilities

  • Working with a range of data sources to build a data warehouse
  • Build ETL/ELT pipelines
  • Supporting the development of our Machine Learning and AI strategy
  • Resolving issues with data-acquisition, integration and management
  • Ad-hoc and periodic report building

What You'll Bring

  • Strong understanding of Data Engineering principles
  • Strong proficiency in building and managing ETL/ELT pipelines
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Experience with consuming REST and GraphQL APIs
  • Programming experience in Python and Java
  • Strong proficiency with relational database management such as MySQL, PostgreSQL
  • Proficient with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, Cassandra, etc.
  • Proficient with data warehousing technologies such as Amazon Redshift or Snowflake
  • Proficient with distributed message-based computing and messaging systems such as Kafka
  • Proficient with code and query performance tuning
  • Proficient in automated testing and writing testable code
  • Comfortable working in Git
  • A good understanding of data integrity compliance laws (e.g., GDPR)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A proactive mindset, ready to roll up your sleeves

Bonus Points If You...

  • Experience with machine learning (ML) pipelines
  • Experience with other data warehousing technologies such as Databricks, Google BigQuery, Azure Synapse
  • Have experience in building automated CI/CD pipelines
  • Love food, restaurants, and dining out

Qualifications

  • Degree in Data Science or a related discipline
  • A minimum of 5 years of post-degree commercial experience as a Java Developer
  • Full working rights in Australia
