Data Engineer
Job Description
Posted on: June 5, 2025
Role Overview
We are looking for a versatile and motivated Data Engineer with a passion for AI-driven innovation to lay the groundwork for our company-wide data infrastructure. This is a foundational role, ideal for someone eager to help define systems, processes, and tooling from the ground up. The Data Engineer will work cross-functionally with teams across the company—brand management, supply chain, finance, and beyond—to build scalable data pipelines, storage systems, and tools that drive strategic decision-making and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain robust databases and data pipelines (ETL/ELT).
- Develop systems to centralize data from a wide array of internal and external sources (e.g., Amazon Seller Central API, advertising platforms, supply chain systems).
- Architect and maintain data infrastructure, ensuring reliability and scalability.
- Drive AI and machine learning implementations across business functions—from forecasting and pricing to internal automation.
- Build and maintain internal tools that make data accessible, actionable, and easy-to-understand for non-technical users.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into data solutions.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in data engineering, with proven experience setting up data infrastructure and internal tools across an organization.
- Hands-on experience with ETL processes and pipeline orchestration (e.g., Airflow, Prefect, or similar).
- Proficiency in a data-centric programming language, as it relates to manipulating data, calling APIs, and implementing AI/ML models (e.g., Python).
- Strong experience with relational and non-relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
- Solid understanding of data architecture best practices (e.g., data lakes, warehouses).
- Experience in setting up dashboards and reporting using simple spreadsheets, as well as specialized BI tools.
- Demonstrated interest and experience in implementing AI/ML solutions in business contexts (e.g., TensorFlow or PyTorch).
- Ability to learn and adapt to the Amazon eCommerce ecosystem and tools.
- Comfortable working independently in a remote, asynchronous environment.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP) and their data services.
Why Join Us?
- Work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with the autonomy to lead major technical decisions.
- Be a key contributor in building foundational infrastructure and shaping data strategy.
- Join a remote-first culture with teammates around the world.
- Competitive compensation and opportunity for growth.
