A fast-growing Series A gaming and technology startup is seeking a Director of Engineering, a hands-on, people-focused technical leader to grow and scale a high-performing engineering team. You’ll oversee 10 engineers across full-stack, infrastructure, and systems, building robust platforms and internal tools that support dynamic software products.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary engineering team, fostering ownership, clarity, and collaboration
• Architect and enhance the systems, infrastructure, and codebase that power internal platforms and tools
• Define and implement best practices for software architecture, build pipelines, and deployment workflows
• Build and maintain internal automation tools to improve team productivity and delivery speed
• Oversee cloud operations across multiple providers, ensuring reliability, scalability, and security
• Champion observability, automated testing, and CI/CD for frequent, reliable releases
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate automation into internal workflows

What We’re Looking For

• Based in the US
• 10+ years of experience in software engineering and architecture
• Expertise in TypeScript, Node.js, and React/Next.js
• Strong experience with cloud-native architecture (AWS, GCP, Kubernetes, Terraform, observability)
• Proven experience building and scaling internal systems or automation platforms
• Track record of leading small, high-impact teams through technical growth and change
• Deep respect for engineering craft — thoughtful design, testing discipline, and reliable systems
• Excellent communication and mentorship skills

Bonus Skills

• Experience designing systems that support complex workflows or automation
• Familiarity with performance optimization for web-scale applications
• Knowledge of advanced cloud infrastructure or tooling
