Software Engineering Manager

In this role, you'll enable your fellow engineers by paving a road for teams to ship continuously and reliably to production. For our hiring partner, production covers a multi-cluster, multi-region design across a range of deployment options. The ideal candidate will be versatile, display leadership qualities, and be enthusiastic to take on new problems as the company continues to push technology forward. The company is looking to hire someone with (1) a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience, (2) 2+ years of demonstrated success in managing, mentoring, and growing high-performing engineering teams in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, and (3) Ability to break down complex problems, analyze data, and lead the team to innovative solutions that align with customer needs. The ideal candidate will have hands-on software development experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure, accessible technologies, distributed systems or networks, and/or have experience with compute technologies. On any given day, you will (1) Define the developer experience strategy by outlining to your team best practices around testing, deploying, and releasing software and infrastructure changes quickly and reliably with the constant aim of decreasing the cognitive load on engineers, (2) participate in or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies, (3) review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices, (4) Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the delivery performance and quality of R&D teams. The success of your team will be evident in the improvement of these KPIs across R&D groups, driven by the tooling and consultancy provided by your team, and (5) Lead the team in day-to-day Agile practices, ensuring predictable and repeatable successful outcomes, and manage and mentor your team members, fostering their professional growth and career advancement.
