About UsInfrawatch is a cybersecurity threat intelligence company specialising in Adversary Infrastructure Discovery. We're looking for an experienced Director of Engineering to lead our technical teams and drive innovation as we scale our security intelligence platform and services.

Position Overview

The Director of Engineering will provide technical leadership and strategic direction to our engineering company. This role involves managing multiple engineering teams, establishing best practices, and collaborating with product, design, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality software solutions that meet business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of cybersecurity and infrastructure engineering experts, providing guidance on technical decisions and career development
  • Develop and execute the technical roadmap for our global scanning network and threat intelligence platforms
  • Establish engineering best practices, architecture standards, and coding guidelines for high-performance, scalable security systems
  • Drive continuous improvement in our infrastructure discovery capabilities, detection methodologies, and attribution techniques
  • Collaborate with Threat Intelligence and Product teams to enhance our ability to identify adversary infrastructure in real-time
  • Manage engineering resources focused on internet-wide scanning, data correlation, and signature development
  • Implement metrics and KPIS to measure detection accuracy, coverage, and time-to-discovery for malicious infrastructure
  • Foster a culture of security innovation, technical excellence, and continuous learning
  • Partner with other security leaders to ensure our platform meets the evolving needs of enterprise security teams
  • Lead technical evaluation of new scanning technologies and data sources
  • Develop strategies to scale our intelligence gathering capabilities while maintaining data quality and accuracy

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred)
  • 7+ years of software engineering experience with at least 4+ years in engineering management roles within security or infrastructure-focused environments
  • Proven track record of building and leading high-performing cybersecurity engineering teams
  • Strong technical background with hands-on experience in large-scale distributed systems, network scanning technologies, and threat intelligence platforms
  • Knowledge of internet infrastructure, DNS, IP addressing, BGP, and common adversary techniques
  • Experience with high-volume data processing, real-time analytics, and pattern recognition systems
  • Proficiency with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerised microservices architecture
  • Experience with continuous integration, delivery, and deployment practices for security systems
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make data-driven decisions in threat intelligence contexts
  • Excellent communication skills for translating complex technical concepts to various stakeholders
  • Experience managing engineering budgets and resources for security-focused teams
  • Deep understanding of scalable system architecture, particularly for internet-wide scanning and data correlation

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Experience in threat intelligence, network security, or cybersecurity industries
  • Knowledge of adversary infrastructure techniques and common evasion methods
  • Familiarity with residential proxy detection, VPN fingerprinting, or C2 infrastructure analysis
  • Experience developing custom threat detection signatures and correlation rules
  • Background in large-scale internet measurement or scanning technologies
  • Experience managing distributed/remote engineering teams across multiple time zones
  • History of successful security product launches and deployments
  • Deep understanding of data privacy regulations and security compliance requirements
  • Experience with performance optimisation for high-throughput scanning systems
  • Background in machine learning or AI applications for threat detection
