About The Role The Staff Software Engineer - Full Stack position is a remote opportunity designed for a highly skilled and autonomous individual contributor. In this role, you will serve as a technical leader and subject matter expert, responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining complex software systems that support critical government services. You will lead initiatives from conception through deployment, collaborating closely with stakeholders, product teams, and other engineering colleagues to deliver high-quality solutions. Your expertise will help shape the technical direction of projects, influence best practices, and ensure the successful delivery of scalable digital services. Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- 9+ years of professional engineering experience
- At least 5+ years of native mobile development experience
- Minimum of 2+ years working with TypeScript and React Native
- Experience with Ruby on Rails
- Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and best practices
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Proven track record of leading complex projects and influencing technical decisions
Responsibilities
- Lead and execute on roadmaps for new projects with minimal oversight, ensuring timely delivery within scope and schedule
- Actively participate in planning sessions, collaborating with partners and stakeholders to define requirements and technical solutions
- Design, develop, and maintain complex, scalable software systems, reducing ambiguity through documentation, refactoring, and automated testing
- Serve as a technical authority, advocating for best practices and innovative solutions in software engineering
- Proactively communicate project status, technical tradeoffs, and design decisions to stakeholders and team members
- Contribute to the evolution of systems by identifying constraints and exploring new opportunities for improvement
- Support adjacent programs within the business unit, providing technical guidance and mentorship as needed
- Represent the engineering practice in external communications, including bid-writing and technical demonstrations
