Remote - Benchling (ELN/LIMS) software Implementation Manager

Job Summary

STEM Smart IT, Inc. is seeking a REMOTE, part-time Benchling (ELN/LIMS) software Implementation Manager with hands-on experience in vivo pharmacology, bioanalytical workflows, histology, gene expression assays, and/or bioinformatics to lead configuration, deployment, and optimization of ELN and LIMS platforms for biotech R&D environments. This role bridges scientific teams and technical stakeholders to ensure successful system adoption, workflow alignment, and data integrity across preclinical and translational research. Candidates with extensive Benchling experience will be given priority consideration.Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end ELN/LIMS implementations (Benchling and related platforms), including requirements gathering, configuration, testing, validation, training, and go-live support.
• Collaborate with scientists, lab operations, vivarium staff, and IT teams to map in vivo, bioanalytical, and molecular biology workflows into ELN/LIMS systems.
• Configure experiment templates, schemas, sample and registry structures, workflows, permissions, and audit controls.
• Support workflows spanning animal studies, bioanalysis, histology, and gene expression assays (e.g., qPCR, RNA-seq, tissue processing).
• Enable tracking of animal cohorts, dosing, sampling, necropsy, tissue collection, and downstream assay data.
• Support data migration, system integrations, and interoperability with analytical instruments and downstream analysis tools.
• Translate scientific and business requirements into scalable, compliant technical solutions.
• Develop SOPs, provide user training, and support change management and adoption across scientific teams.
• Troubleshoot system issues and coordinate with vendors and internal stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with GxP, data integrity, and audit-readiness requirements where applicable.
• Drive continuous improvement of lab and preclinical workflows through automation and best practices.

Required Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in biotechnology, life sciences, or preclinical research environments.
• Practical experience supporting bioanalytical workflows, histology, gene expression assays, in vivo pharmacology, or animal studies.
• Hands-on experience with ELN/LIMS software (Benching , LabGuru, StarLIMS, or similar systems)
• Strong understanding of laboratory data models, experiment tracking, sample lifecycle management, and metadata standards.
• Experience supporting animal studies and vivarium operations, including study design, animal tracking, dosing, and sample chain-of-custody.
• Experience gathering requirements and producing functional and technical documentation.
• Familiarity with validation activities (UAT, IQ/OQ/PQ) and regulated environments is a plus.
• Basic knowledge of APIs, data integrations, or scripting is desirable.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across scientific, operational, and technical teams.

Preferred Skills

• User / administrator experience with Benchling. 
• Experience integrating ELN/LIMS with bioanalytical platforms, sequencing pipelines, or data analysis tools.
• Familiarity with vivarium management systems or preclinical study management tools.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools to rapidly design, query, and iterate on PostgreSQL-backed analytics and dashboards, reports, and visualizations
• Understanding of cloud platforms, data security, and access controls.
• Project management, Agile delivery, or implementation leadership experience.
