About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join our dynamic team at Stord. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in enhancing our data infrastructure, optimizing data pipelines, and transforming data into strategic assets that drive business growth. Your expertise will support our machine learning applications and AI systems, working closely with data scientists, product managers, and engineering teams to create scalable, reliable, and efficient data solutions. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining data pipelines, re-architecting our data warehouse, and ensuring data quality and security across our cloud infrastructure. Qualifications
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in data engineering or a related field, with a proven track record of building and maintaining scalable data pipelines and data warehouses.
- Extensive experience working with cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including data lakes, data warehouses, and data pipelines.
- Strong proficiency in SQL and Python, with hands-on experience using data transformation tools such as dbt or similar.
- Familiarity with data pipeline orchestration tools like Apache Airflow, Prefect, or equivalent.
- Experience with data warehousing technologies such as BigQuery, Snowflake, or comparable systems.
- Understanding of data lake concepts and technologies, alongside data modeling and data governance best practices.
- Knowledge of basic machine learning concepts, data preparation techniques, and model evaluation processes.
- Experience with version control systems, particularly Git, to manage code and collaborate effectively.
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable and reliable data pipelines utilizing modern data engineering tools and best practices.
- Lead efforts to re-architect and optimize our data warehouse infrastructure to enhance performance, scalability, and data quality.
- Implement data cleansing, transformation, and validation processes to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of data across platforms.
- Collaborate with engineering, data science, and product teams to gather requirements and develop effective data models.
- Build and manage data infrastructure on GCP, including data lakes, warehouses, and pipelines, ensuring efficiency and security.
- Monitor pipeline performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize data storage and retrieval for cost and performance efficiency.
- Implement and uphold data security standards and governance policies to protect sensitive information.
- Prepare and transform data to support machine learning models, ensuring high data quality and accessibility for AI initiatives.
- Assist in basic data analysis and reporting to support the AI and data science teams.
- Document data processes, pipelines, and models for knowledge sharing and maintainability.
- Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to integrate machine learning solutions into the broader platform and promote data democratization across the organization.
