Director, Software Engineering

For our client, we are seeking a Director Software Engineering to join the team of a leader in the Finance & Insurance space. You’ll build and maintain systems that power mission-critical Finance & Insurance workflows. You’ll collaborate with product and peers to design clean, scalable solutions. This role values craftsmanship, impact, and ownership. Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available Compensation: $165,000 – $190,000 annually. Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership across multiple application development teams
• Lead and develop engineering managers, fostering professional growth
• Oversee a portfolio of software initiatives, ensuring effective execution and delivery
• Define and evolve application development strategy and architectural direction
• Collaborate with product, business, and IT leaders to align roadmaps
• Establish quality assurance standards and best practices
• Manage resource allocation and optimize delivery across teams

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related discipline
• 15+ years of experience in software engineering with increasing leadership roles
• Proven track record managing multiple teams and large-scale application portfolios
• Expertise in modern technologies including Java and microservices architecture
• Strong grasp of software design principles and engineering best practices
• Demonstrated capability managing competing priorities, budgets, and resources
