Responsibilities
• Build and maintain batch and incremental data pipelines from operational systems into analytical storage
• Design data models and transformations that support dependable downstream analysis
• Implement pipeline tests, monitoring, schema checks, and recovery procedures
• Investigate pipeline failures and improve reliability, performance, and processing efficiency
• Work with analysts and software engineers to document data contracts and source behavior
• Lead technical design and delivery for complex initiatives in this role, making tradeoffs explicit
• Mentor colleagues and improve review, documentation, and operational practices
Qualification
Required
• Practical experience developing and operating data pipelines
• Strong SQL and Python programming skills
• Understanding of relational data modeling, incremental processing, and schema evolution
• Experience with version control, automated testing, and workflow orchestration
• Ability to diagnose production data issues and communicate clearly in a remote team
• Demonstrated experience owning complex projects from design through production or business adoption
• Ability to lead technical decisions, review others' work, and mentor colleagues
Preferred
• Experience with cloud data warehouses and orchestration tools such as Airflow or Dagster
• Familiarity with distributed processing, streaming ingestion, or change data capture
