As an Engineering Manager on the Incidents team, you will lead a talented, multi-disciplinary group of engineers responsible for building and maintaining complex navigation, mapping, and search solutions. You will guide the team in delivering robust and scalable services that support billions of real-time requests daily. This role combines technical leadership, people management, and operational excellence, ensuring your team aligns with business priorities while driving innovation and reliability. - Lead a distributed engineering team, providing mentorship, technical guidance, and career development
- Oversee day-to-day operations, including sprint planning, project management, and on-call processes
- Deliver high-impact solutions that maintain reliability, performance, and customer satisfaction
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to align work with business strategy and long-term objectives
- Establish, monitor, and iterate on operational metrics to ensure quality and continuous improvement
- Promote best engineering practices, data-driven decisions, and a culture of innovation within the team
- Drive team initiatives, ensuring stakeholder alignment and effective communication across the organization
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience managing engineering teams, ideally 15+ engineers in remote or distributed environments
- Proven ability to hire, develop, and retain diverse, high-performing technical talent
- Strong technical expertise in building scalable web services and data products, preferably in AWS environments
- Demonstrated operational excellence, including monitoring, metrics, incident triage, and process improvement
- Customer-focused mindset with the ability to translate complex problems into actionable solutions
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for engaging with stakeholders at all levels
- Experience driving vision, strategy, and execution in a fast-paced, evolving technical landscape
