Location: Remote (GMT to GMT+2 timezone) | Optional co-working meetups near London Salary: £55,000 - £70,000 + Stock Options Team: 5 Engineers | Reporting to CEO
About Us
We're an AI company building the future of financial management for SMEs. Our platform enables accountants to deliver real-time financial insights to their clients—businesses with 10 to 250 employees who deserve the same calibre of financial intelligence that enterprises take for granted.
We're not just integrating AI; we're building it. Our R&D team develops proprietary IP across software and AI, creating technology that genuinely transforms how accountants work. We already serve some of the biggest accountancy firms in the UK, and we're scaling rapidly with VC backing to match our ambition.
Our roadmap is exciting and challenging in equal measure. We're still learning how to build great software at pace—and we're honest about how hard it is. If you want a role where the problems are already solved, this isn't it. If you want to be part of figuring it out, keep reading.
The Role
We're looking for a Technical Product Manager who can bridge the gap between customer reality and engineering execution. This isn't a role where you'll spend your days in strategy meetings and hand off tickets to "the team." You'll be in the detail: troubleshooting technical issues from support queries, communicating directly with engineers about what you've found, and making daily decisions about what gets built next.
You'll manage a team of five engineers—not from a distance, but as an active participant in their work. You'll own the prioritisation of EPICs, manage the daily flow of tasks and bugs, and ensure we build what matters most to our customers.
This role demands someone who has worked in startups before and understands that a job description is a starting point, not a boundary. You'll take initiative, fill gaps, and do whatever is needed to move the product forward.
What You'll DoTechnical Ownership
- Investigate and troubleshoot technical issues escalated from customer support, getting to root cause before involving engineering time
- Translate technical findings into clear, actionable communication for engineers
- Maintain a working understanding of our codebase, architecture, and AI systems sufficient to diagnose issues and evaluate solutions
Product Prioritisation
- Own the prioritisation of EPICs, balancing customer needs, technical debt, and strategic objectives
- Make defensible trade-off decisions and communicate the reasoning clearly to stakeholders
- Ensure the roadmap reflects reality—what we can deliver, not what we wish we could
Day-to-Day Delivery
- Manage the daily flow of engineering tasks, bugs, and ad-hoc requests
- Own and maintain the Jira board and Confluence documentation
- Run standups, unblock engineers, and ensure work moves forward without unnecessary delays
- Maintain visibility into what's in progress, what's stuck, and what's coming next
Operations & Quality
- Manage application access and permissions across teams, particularly for testing environments
- Coordinate with our dedicated QA to ensure testing coverage aligns with release priorities
- Maintain control over who has access to what—keeping environments clean and secure
Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
- Work closely with our accountancy firm customers to understand their workflows and pain points
- Represent the voice of the customer in engineering discussions
- Contribute to product decisions that serve both our direct customers (accountants) and their end clients (SMEs)
What We're Looking ForEssential
- Proven experience as a Technical Product Manager, Product Owner, or similar role in a startup environment (Series A or earlier preferred)
- Genuine technical depth: you've debugged issues, read code, and can hold your own in architectural discussions
- Experience managing or working directly with engineering teams of 3-10 people
- Track record of making prioritisation decisions under resource constraints
- Strong written and verbal communication—you can explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and customer needs to engineers
- Based within GMT to GMT+2 timezone (e.g. UK, Europe, South Africa)
Desirable
- Experience with accounting, bookkeeping, or financial software
- Familiarity with AI/ML products, particularly in production environments
- Background in B2B SaaS serving professional services firms
- Previous experience with Xero, QuickBooks, or similar accounting platform integrations
How We WorkRemote-First, With Purpose We're a distributed team, but we believe in the value of occasional in-person connection. We organise optional co-working days near London (free coffee included). Attendance isn't mandatory, but the conversations are worth having.
Flexible Hours, With Boundaries We offer genuine flexibility, but our customers span the UK, Canada, and the USA. Core delivery hours are 8am–8pm UK time—not because we're watching the clock, but because that's when our customers need us. How you structure your day around that is your call.
Our Values
- Take initiative. See something that needs doing? Do it. See something that could be better? Improve it.
- Have each other's backs. We're a small team. When someone's struggling, we help. When someone's succeeding, we celebrate.
- Be honest and accurate. We don't spin bad news or inflate good news. We say what's true and build from there.
Compensation & BenefitsSalary: £55,000 - £70,000, depending on experience
Equity: Stock options—you'll have a stake in what we're building
Benefits:
- Salary sacrifice schemes available for UK-based employees (pension, cycle-to-work, etc.)
- Flexible working arrangements
- Remote-first culture with optional co-working near London
- The chance to shape a product used by major UK accountancy firms
- Usual tech and home working set up allowance
What Success Looks LikeIn your first week: You've resolved your first support issues through your own technical investigation. You're already in the detail.
In your first month: The team trusts you. You're organised, you communicate clearly, and you've taken ownership of the Jira board and Confluence. App access across teams is under control. Engineers know where to find you and what you need from them.
In your first quarter: You're a key voice in roadmap decisions. You're coordinating effectively with QA, keeping releases tight. Customers see improvements in the product that can be traced back to your prioritisation decisions.
How to Apply
Send us your CV and a short video or written note (no more than 300 words / 3 minutes) explaining:
- A technical issue you've diagnosed in a previous role and how you communicated the findings
- A prioritisation decision you made that wasn't popular but was right
We review every application. If we think there's a fit, we'll be in touch within a week.
We're building something that matters. If you want to be part of it, we'd love to hear from you.
