Help Shape the Future of Cloud in NHS Wales

NHS Wales is embarking on an exciting new Cloud Transition Programme (CTP). Since the late 2010s, NHS Wales has used public cloud for public-facing and internal environments. Now, they’re taking the next bold step: migrating over 90 key services (around 1,700 servers) to public cloud platforms — modernising infrastructure, improving agility, and strengthening cyber resilience across NHS Wales.

The multi-cloud strategy prioritises Microsoft Azure for infrastructure and generic PaaS, and Google Cloud for specialist PaaS via the National Data Resource programme.

We’re now seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead and co-ordinate this national migration effort, working across NHS Wales health organisations to deliver real impact.

The Opportunity

This is not a simple “lift and shift.” The CTP is a true transformation journey — modernising working practices, upskilling teams, improving connectivity, and embedding cloud-first principles into everyday operations.

As Project Manager, you’ll:

• Lead the planning, delivery, and governance of complex, multi-stakeholder cloud migration projects.
• Provide clear leadership, mentoring, and direction to project teams.
• Oversee project schedules, budgets, and benefits realisation.
• Drive risk management, assurance, and quality across all project stages.
• Build and maintain relationships with senior NHS and partner stakeholders.
• Help shape future ways of working, ensuring agile delivery and continuous improvement.

About You

You’ll be an experienced project leader who thrives in complex environments, ideally with public sector or health experience.

You’ll bring:

• Proven success managing large-scale transformation or cloud migration programmes.
• Expertise in Agile and traditional project methodologies (e.g. PRINCE2, APM, MSP).
• Strong stakeholder and change management skills.
• The ability to drive progress across multiple technical and organisational teams.
• Exceptional communication, planning, and assurance capabilities.

Qualifications & Certifications (essential or desirable):

• Master’s degree or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline.
• Professional accreditation such as APM Chartered Project Professional, PRINCE2 Practitioner, or AgilePM.
• Desirable: MSP Practitioner, PMI PMP, MoR Practitioner, or P3O Practitioner.
