About The Role

GovCIO is currently seeking a highly skilled Sr. Full Stack Developer to join our team on a full-time, fully remote basis. This role is pivotal in supporting a new program award focused on maintaining and enhancing the VA's legal case, matter, and accreditation management systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and sustaining complex software applications that directly impact the lives of millions of American Veterans and their families.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product Owners, Scrum Teams, and stakeholders, to deliver innovative solutions that meet stringent compliance standards. Your expertise will be essential in planning system deployments, designing user interfaces, troubleshooting production issues, and driving technological advancements. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to critical government systems while working in a flexible, remote environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field with 12+ years of experience, or equivalent professional experience
  • Experience working in agile environments such as Scrum or SAFe
  • Minimum of five years of experience with relational databases and SQL
  • Proficiency with non-relational and relational databases such as MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle
  • Extensive experience with .NET applications, including ASP.NET Web Forms and ASP.NET MVC
  • Strong knowledge of C# and Visual Studio development environment
  • Hands-on experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
  • Ability to design, discuss, and document system strategies for platforms, applications, and networks
  • Understanding of Azure DevOps and version control tools like Git and GitHub
  • Excellent communication skills, with proficiency in spelling and grammar
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance

Responsibilities

  • Sustain and enhance the VA’s legal case/matter and accreditation management systems
  • Participate in planning system architecture and deployment strategies, ensuring compliance with software standards
  • Design graphical user interfaces (GUI) tailored to user needs
  • Prepare operational instructions, compile documentation, and analyze system capabilities to resolve technical issues
  • Build add-on modules using appropriate application programming languages
  • Develop, test, and maintain applications following project specifications and standards
  • Maintain and modify existing software applications to improve functionality and performance
  • Analyze system requirements, including data flow, hardware/software needs, and alternative solutions
  • Conduct code reviews to ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices
  • Write or update program documentation, user guides, and operational procedures
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot production application issues promptly
  • Promote innovation by leveraging new technologies, processes, and tools
  • Collaborate with Product Owners and Scrum teams on requirements decomposition, backlog refinement, and task breakdown
  • Engage with stakeholders and subject matter experts to gather requirements and provide technical support
  • Implement unit and integration testing to validate system functionality against business needs
  • Interface with internal and government management teams to report progress and resolve issues
  • Develop software solutions that serve the needs of government agencies and the Veteran community
