As a Solution Specialist at GENE, you shape the vision for what we build and ensure the details of how it works are carefully designed for maximum impact. You'll dive deep into customer behaviour, operations and industry insight to define the right solutions and guide them from concept to delivery.
Acting as the client in the room, you ensure every element, UX, technology, and operations, fits together cohesively and delivers measurable commercial value. You are a problem-solver, translator, and decision-maker, ensuring what we build is viable, feasible, and genuinely improves conversion, experience, and revenue for our clients.
You'll work across a portfolio of complex commerce projects, collaborating daily with developers, UX designers, QA specialists, project managers, and senior client stakeholders to bring high-impact digital products to life and shape the next wave of ecommerce innovation.
What You’ll Be Doing
Strategy & Discovery
- Lead discovery workshops with clients to understand goals, workflows, constraints, and ambitions.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their business objectives, develop and prioritise tailored ecommerce solutions as part of a broader roadmap.
- Explore emerging areas such as agentic commerce, autonomous shopping journeys, composable payments, and embedded checkout.
Requirements & Definition
- Serve as a subject matter Ecommerce expert, with specific expertise in the Magento/Adobe Commerce platform and related ecommerce technologies.
- Provide technical guidance and support to clients throughout the eCommerce project lifecycle, from requirements gathering to implementation and post-launch support/training.
- Collaborate with clients and internal teams to define eCommerce requirements, develop technical solutions, and ensure successful project delivery.
- Configure and customise Magento/Adobe Commerce platform to meet client's specific business needs and requirements.
- Troubleshooting to identify and resolve technical issues (as required).
- Stay updated on the latest ecommerce trends, platform updates, and best practices.
- Accountable for ensuring value for your client(s) across all workstreams.
Delivery Ownership
- Partner closely with the Project Manager to align product priorities with technical feasibility, shaping realistic delivery plans while supporting sprint planning, backlog refinement, and cross-team coordination with clear product context and priority rationale.
- Build trusted, long-term relationships with clients, grounded in clarity, honesty, and commercial awareness.
What We’re Looking For
- You must be UK based and eCommerce agency experience is required
- 3–5+ years in eCommerce product management, digital delivery, or a similar role.
- Hands-on experience with Magento/Adobe Commerce or similarly complex eCommerce platforms.
- Strong understanding of payments, checkout, PSP integrations, SCA/3DS, and commerce ops.
- Experience writing requirements, defining user stories, and managing backlogs.
- Confidence working with engineering teams, designers, PMs, QA, and client stakeholders with the ability to simplify complexity.
- A calm, detail-oriented approach with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills with a desire to push standards, and deliver high-quality outcomes.
