Position Summary:
We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable
data platforms and modern data pipelines. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in SQL,
Snowflake, and DBT Cloud, along with hands-on experience across data orchestration, ingestion,
governance, DevOps, and Infrastructure as Code. Basic Python skills, along with SnowPro and dbt
Cloud certifications are strongly preferred.
The role involves working closely with data engineering, analytics, technology, and business teams
to develop reliable, scalable, and well-governed data solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance data pipelines and data platforms using Snowflake.
- Develop efficient data transformation workflows using dbt Cloud (and dbt Core where applicable), following modular, reusable, and maintainable development practices.
- Build and maintain data ingestion pipelines using dbt Cloud, working with source systems including Snowflake and PostgreSQL.
- Write complex, optimized, production-grade SQL for data transformation, analysis, and processing; use basic Python scripting for automation tasks where helpful.
- Implement data governance and cataloging practices using tools such as Alation and Collibra.
- Follow software engineering and DevOps best practices using Git and GitHub for version control and collaboration.
- Containerize applications and data workloads using Docker where required.
- Develop and maintain infrastructure using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles.
- Implement monitoring, alerting, and operational controls using Datadog and CloudWatch.
- Troubleshoot data pipeline, performance, and production issues and drive them to resolution.
- Ensure pipelines are reliable, secure, and optimized for performance and cost.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into robust data engineering solutions.
- Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, architecture decisions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Mentor junior and mid-level data engineers and contribute to engineering best practices and standards.
- Exposure to Workato (including Workato AI) is a plus but not required.
Experience:
- 6+ years of experience in data engineering, data platforms, or a related technology domain.
- Expert-level SQL, with strong hands-on experience in PostgreSQL in addition to cloud data warehouses.
- Strong practical experience with Snowflake (Databricks a plus).
- Basic Python skills — should have, for scripting and automation.
- SnowPro Certification (Core or Advanced) required or strongly preferred.
- DBT Cloud / dbt Certification required or strongly preferred.
- Experience with modern ELT/ETL architecture and cloud-based data platforms.
- Hands-on experience with orchestration tools, data ingestion platforms, and data governance frameworks.
- Good understanding of CI/CD, version control, containerization, Infrastructure as Code, and monitoring/observability.
- Workato experience is a nice-to-have, not a core requirement.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or master’s in computer science, Engineering, Software Engineering or a relevant field
