We're looking for an Email Marketing Strategist to own retention marketing for multiple Australian DTC e-commerce brands. You'll be the brain behind sophisticated Klaviyo strategy, working directly with our co-founder to craft high-level email strategies that drive growth for brands doing $5M-$50M+ in annual revenue. Ideal for someone who is an accomplished strategist, writes compelling copy and wants autonomy to shape email programs from the ground up.
What you'll do
- Strategic ownership: You'll be the strategic lead for email marketing across multiple DTC brands, architecting sophisticated retention strategies that go far beyond basic welcome flows and promotional campaigns.
- Klaviyo mastery: Build advanced segments, complex automation flows, and data-driven campaigns in Klaviyo. You'll need to understand how all the pieces fit together at an architectural level.
- Copywriting: Write persuasive email copy that matches each brand's unique voice and resonates with Australian / international audiences. We do use AI tools, but you need to know what good copy looks like and how to prompt effectively.
- Analytics & insights: Dive deep into Klaviyo, GA4, and Shopify data to uncover opportunities. Present insights and recommendations to clients, showing them what's working and what needs to change.
- Research & innovation: Stay ahead of email marketing trends by studying what top DTC brands globally are doing. Bring fresh ideas and test them with our clients.
- Team leadership: Brief our implementer and designers through Slack and ClickUp. You'll be the next-most-senior person on the team, so leadership ability matters.
- Client communication (future): Once you've proven yourself, you'll join strategy calls with clients and become their trusted advisor on email retention.
- Monthly strategy planning: Map out what's coming up for each client monthly, working backwards from deadlines to ensure nothing falls through the cracks.
Who we're looking for
Someone with 4+ years of experience who has the following skills and traits:
- Klaviyo expert: You've lived in Klaviyo for years and can build advanced segments and complex flows without breaking a sweat. If you haven't used Klaviyo extensively, this probably isn't the right fit.
- DTC e-commerce strategist: You've worked with Shopify brands doing serious volume ($5M-$20M+ annually). You understand that sophisticated brands need sophisticated strategies, not just basic flows.
- Agency background preferred: You've juggled multiple client accounts and know what works for one brand might tank for another. You've seen patterns across different brands and verticals.
- International market savvy: You understand cultural nuances and have specific Australian/US market exposure.
- Strategic thinker, not just a doer: You don't just execute tasks – you think deeply about why we're doing something, research best practices, and bring ideas to the table unprompted.
- Natural communicator: Your English is excellent. You can articulate complex strategies clearly and communicate with intention. Please include the word pineapple somewhere in your written application, but in a way that feels natural, not forced (we care more about how you do this than that you do it at all).
- Copywriting ability: You know what good email copy looks like. You can reference best practices and adapt winning concepts for our clients. AI is your friend, but you guide it.
- Autonomous & proactive: We're a small, family-like team. You'll work predominantly in the AEST time zone. You need to stay on top of work independently and flag issues before they become problems.
- Detail-oriented project manager: Track multiple campaigns across clients, meet deadlines, and keep stakeholders updated through Slack / ClickUp.
- Growth-minded: You're hungry to learn, take feedback well, and constantly improve your craft.
Bonus points if you have:
- Worked with Shopify brands across diverse verticals (beauty, fashion, supplements, toys, wine, etc.)
- Experience with brands doing $20M+ annually
- Figma skills (to review designs and make minor edits)
- SMS marketing experience (nice to have, but we can train)
- Experience managing or mentoring other team members
