OgMentum ARK Chooses Bowling Green for Headquarters and R&D Hub

A new technology company, OgMentum ARK, has announced it will establish its headquarters and research and development center in Bowling Green, Kentucky. This move is set to bring high-tech fiber optics work to South Central Kentucky, marking a significant step for the region's tech landscape.

Formed through the merger of two innovation-focused firms, OgMentum ARK will focus on developing and manufacturing fiber optic technologies for various applications, including communications, telecommunications, structural monitoring, and gas sensing. The company aims to serve both commercial and national defense markets, highlighting its broad impact.

The project is expected to create at least 25 high-paying jobs within the next three years, with roles spanning scientists, engineers, technicians, and administrators. Regional economic leaders project that this initiative will generate nearly $196 million in long-term economic impact for the local area, underscoring its potential for growth and prosperity.

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear praised the announcement, stating, "Companies from across the world are investing in Kentucky, creating good jobs for our people and showing that our state is the best place to do business." This endorsement reflects the state's growing reputation in the technology sector.

OgMentum ARK President Jake Weise emphasized the strategic choice of Bowling Green, citing its workforce and partnerships as key factors for the company's expansion. "We are not just expanding; we are investing in a future built on talent, technology, and trust," Weise said.

CEO Dr. Kent Murphy highlighted collaborations with the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce and Western Kentucky University (WKU). The company plans to partner with WKU to train fiber optics specialists and expand the region's technology talent pipeline, fostering local skill development.

Local officials, including Warren County Judge Executive Doug Gorman and Bowling Green Mayor Todd Alcott, welcomed the decision, noting its potential to enhance the region's standing in advanced industries. Gorman called it "a powerful endorsement of what our region offers," while Alcott described it as "transformative growth that defines Bowling Green's economic future."

In addition to local efforts, OgMentum ARK is pursuing federal research funding through agencies such as the Department of Defense, NASA, the Department of Energy, and the National Science Foundation, aiming to drive innovation on a larger scale.

The Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce reported that this is one of three projects announced this year, totaling $12.3 million in capital investment and creating 65 new jobs, indicating a positive trend in regional economic development.
