Discover How INVISTA's New $13M Texas Center is Shaping the Future of High-Tech Jobs

INVISTA Unveils Texas Technology Center
KATY, Texas — INVISTA has officially opened a $13 million research center in Katy, marking a significant milestone in the region's high-tech job landscape.
The Texas Technology Center spans 40,000 square feet and will host over 50 researchers and engineers dedicated to the advancement of new materials and enhancements in manufacturing processes. This initiative is particularly focused on the Nylon and Propylene sectors, which play a critical role in industries such as automotive, medical equipment, airbags, food packaging, and clothing.
Invista, a subsidiary of Koch Industries, one of the largest privately held corporations in the U.S., is deeply embedded in various sectors including manufacturing, energy, and chemicals.
Driving Innovation
Jerry Grunewald, who heads research and development at Invista, expressed enthusiasm about the center's capabilities: "The Texas Technology Center now provides a hub for innovative projects and partnerships that will help keep us on the cutting edge of our industry."
The center aims to develop improved versions of chemicals that are integral to everyday products such as clothing, carpets, and various plastic items. Researchers will utilize advanced equipment for testing and material development.
A Global Network
Announced in August, the center is now fully operational, with CEO Brook Vickery attending the opening ceremony. Vickery remarked, "Touring the world-class R&D facilities at the Texas Technology Center today was impressive. The capability we now have under one roof in Texas will accelerate the teams' contributions to advancing our businesses."
This new facility positions Katy as a vital part of Invista's global innovation network, joining existing centers in Shanghai, China, Ontario, Canada, and Longview, Texas.
