Artificial intelligence (AI) is no longer confined to the tech sector. A recent study by Lightcast reveals that 51% of AI-related job listings are now outside traditional IT and computer-science roles, a significant increase from 39% five years ago. This trend is evident across various industries, including marketing, science, engineering, education, and healthcare.
The Growing Demand for AI Skills
Colorado ranks 16th nationwide for AI-related job openings, with 1.78% of listings requiring AI skills. While this is a small fraction, the number is growing rapidly. For instance, AI-specific job postings in Colorado surged by 66.5% in July compared to the previous year.

Employers Leading the Charge
Employers are increasingly seeking candidates with AI skills, even for non-tech roles. For example, a marketing specialist role in Greenwood Village requires comfort with AI tools like ChatGPT, while a Louisville company needs a publishing coordinator proficient in AI for content creation.
Education and Training
Denver-based Guild, a tech education company, is adapting to this shift by incorporating AI skills into its training programs. CEO Bijal Shah notes that 80% of Guild's staff is continuously trained in AI skills relevant to their roles.
