AI Created My Job: The Rise of Robotics Application Engineers in Tech's Safest Roles

Hanut Singh, a 30-year-old lead robotics application engineer at Chef Robotics in Dallas, shares his journey into one of tech's most secure and future-proof careers.

The Birth of a New Role in Tech

Before the AI revolution, robotics was about repetitive tasks in controlled environments. Now, with AI, robots adapt dynamically, creating roles like Singh's that bridge AI models with real-world applications.

Why Robotics Application Engineering is the Future

• Demand is Growing: As companies deploy AI-driven robots, the need for engineers who understand both robotics and customer needs is skyrocketing.
• Salary Ranges: From $120,000 to $200,000, with potential increases for leadership roles.
• Job Security: Unlike software roles vulnerable to AI automation, deploying robots requires human expertise, making this role resilient.

How to Land a Role Like Hanut's

1. Education: A master's in robotics or related fields is a start, but not enough.
2. Customer-Facing Experience: Essential for understanding and translating client needs into robotic solutions.
3. Real-World Experience: Working in automation or warehouses provides practical insights.
4. Continuous Learning: Stay updated with AI and robotics advancements through courses.

The Hiring Challenge

Finding candidates with both technical and interpersonal skills is tough. Companies often train recent graduates, making internships and relevant projects crucial for breaking into the field.

Why This Role is Here to Stay

As AI and robotics evolve, the complexity of deploying these technologies ensures the indispensability of robotics application engineers. Singh's story is a testament to how AI isn't just taking jobs—it's creating new, secure ones.
