About The Role
We are seeking a Staff Software Engineer, Frontend, to join the Advanced Trading team within the Consumer & Business group. In this role, you will lead the front-end technical strategy for Coinbase Advanced, our sophisticated trading platform designed for experienced traders. You will be responsible for the performance, reliability, and scalability of our web and mobile trading clients, delivering low-latency interfaces that support multiple instrument types. This role sits at the intersection of crypto, trading infrastructure, and consumer product, offering a unique opportunity to influence both the platform and the engineering team.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of mobile software engineering experience in iOS (Swift) or Android (Kotlin), with proficiency or willingness to develop fluency in the other platform.
- Proven expertise in optimizing complex UI systems for performance, including rendering optimization, network efficiency, and state management at scale.
- Experience leading technical strategy for a product area, including architecture decisions, trade-off analysis, and aligning cross-team initiatives over multiple quarters.
- Demonstrated success mentoring senior engineers and driving improvements in engineering standards and delivery velocity.
- Familiarity with high-availability, low-latency systems such as trading platforms, financial systems, or real-time data applications.
- Responsible use of generative AI to enhance workflow efficiency, cost management, and quality, while maintaining human oversight.
- Own the front-end technical roadmap for Coinbase Advanced, making architecture decisions that ensure a reliable and scalable trading platform across web and mobile.
- Drive measurable performance improvements in rendering, network efficiency, and state management to deliver a low-latency trading experience.
- Lead complex, multi-quarter technical initiatives from conception to completion, setting and enforcing high standards for code quality, system design, and engineering rigor.
- Mentor senior engineers through hands-on guidance, elevating technical decision-making and fostering professional growth within the subteam.
- Collaborate with Product and Engineering leadership to translate business priorities into actionable technical plans and ship impactful features.
- Establish front-end engineering practices and patterns that scale with the team, creating conventions that accelerate development velocity.
- Competitive annual base salary ranging from $218,025 USD to $256,500 USD, excluding bonus eligibility.
