Full Stack Shopify Developer
Job Description
Posted on: February 2, 2026
Build the systems that will define how whiskey is bought and sold in the 21st century.
At Whiskey Library, you'll architect the tools and applications that transform how whiskey lovers discover, subscribe, and receive their bottles—building custom apps, preference engines, and logistics integrations that don't exist yet because no one in this industry has thought to build them. And you'll do it at a pace and scale that's only possible when you know how to wield AI as a force multiplier.
Who We Are
Whiskey Library is an online whiskey retailer on a mission to make exceptional whiskey more accessible. The whiskey industry is dominated by legacy players doing things the way they've always been done. We're changing that—using technology, smarter logistics, and better customer experiences to set a new standard.
We believe in:
- Innovation over tradition — If there's a better way, we'll find it (or build it)
- Ownership — You'll have real autonomy to solve problems your way
- AI-augmented execution — We use tools like Claude Code, Cursor, and Gemini to ship faster and think bigger
As a developer here, you're not a ticket-taker. You're a builder with a seat at the table, using every modern tool at your disposal to figure out what's possible and then make it real.
What You'll Actually Do
This is a greenfield role. You'll be building new systems, not maintaining old ones—and you'll use AI-assisted development to execute at a level that would be impossible otherwise.
Subscription & Preference Systems
- Build and refine our Mystery Box preference calculator—the algorithm that matches customers with bottles they'll love
- Develop subscription management tools that give customers control and keep them engaged
Custom Shopify Applications
- Create apps that extend what Shopify can do out of the box
- Build features like FedEx hold-at-location options, shipping threshold triggers, and smart fulfillment logic
- Improve site performance, UX, and conversion
AI-Powered Development
- Use Claude Code, Cursor, Gemini, and similar tools daily to write, debug, and ship code faster
- Leverage AI to tackle larger projects than a single developer could traditionally handle
- Build internal automations and tools that multiply the team's output
Day-to-day, you'll:
- Own projects from concept to deployment
- Collaborate directly with leadership on priorities
- Ship code that customers interact with immediately
- Experiment, iterate, and improve based on real data
What We're Looking For
Must-Haves:
- Strong Shopify development experience (Liquid, Shopify APIs, theme architecture)
- Full-stack capabilities—you can work across the entire codebase
- Proven AI fluency—you actively use tools like Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, or Gemini in your workflow and can demonstrate how they've expanded what you can build
- Problem-solver mindset—you figure things out without hand-holding
- Clear communication—you can explain technical tradeoffs to non-technical teammates
Nice-to-Haves:
- Experience with subscription/membership systems
- Logistics or fulfillment integrations (shipping APIs, inventory systems)
- E-commerce optimization (conversion, page speed, checkout flows)
- Experience prompting and fine-tuning AI tools for code generation
Why AI Fluency Matters Here
We're a small team with big ambitions. The only way to punch above our weight is to use every advantage available—and right now, AI-assisted development is the biggest leverage point in software.
We're not looking for someone who's "heard of" these tools. We want someone who's already in the habit of using them, who knows when to lean on AI and when to trust their own instincts, and who's excited to push the boundaries of what a single developer can accomplish.
If you've used AI tools to ship something you couldn't have built alone, we want to hear about it.
Addressing Your Concerns
"Will I just be fixing bugs?" No. This role exists because we need to build things that don't exist yet. Maintenance work is minimal—your time goes toward new features and systems.
"Is there room to grow?" We're a growing company in an industry ripe for disruption. As we scale, so does this role. You'll have opportunities to shape the technical direction and potentially lead a team.
"Is this a chaotic startup with no direction?" We move fast, but not recklessly. You'll have clear priorities, direct access to leadership, and the autonomy to execute without micromanagement. We value results over busywork.
Compensation & Details
- Location: Fully Remote
- Compensation: Competitive, based on experience (mid-to-senior range)
- Type: Full-time
How to Apply
If you're a developer who's already using AI to multiply your output—and you want to build something that matters—we want to hear from you.
Apply with:
- Your resume or LinkedIn
- A brief note on how you've used AI tools in your development workflow (what tools, what you built, what it enabled)
- Bonus: Link to any relevant work (GitHub, portfolio, live projects)
