borGO tackles the social and environmental problems facing small villages in Abruzzo, such as depopulation, loss of local culture, and lack of job opportunities. Many young people leave these areas, and traditional knowledge and ways of living risk disappearing. At the same time, mass tourism often damages the environment and doesn’t benefit local communities. borGO offers a different approach by promoting slow and sustainable tourism, supporting local businesses, and helping people discover the unique culture, nature, and stories of these villages.

borGO is a digital platform that connects travelers, volunteers, and locals to create authentic, sustainable experiences in the villages of Abruzzo. It offers curated activities—like local workshops, cultural events, and eco-tourism—that support small businesses, preserve traditions, and involve the community directly. By combining storytelling, design, and technology, borGO makes it easy to discover hidden places while generating real social and environmental impact for the people who live there.

Role (Volunteer): Web Developer (Wix)

Role Description: 

What You’ll Do

We’re looking for a creative and motivated volunteer to help us design and improve the borGO website using WIX. You’ll work on making the site not only beautiful and easy to use, but also more visible on search engines through smart SEO strategies. From layout and structure to keywords and search rankings, your work will help more people discover our mission and bring more life to small villages in Italy. If you enjoy combining design with strategy, this is a great opportunity to make a real impact.

We’re just getting started, and we’re building everything from scratch—step by step, with passion and purpose. By joining us, you’ll help connect travelers and volunteers with beautiful places that deserve to be seen, loved, and supported.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience with SEO and SEO tools (like Google Search Console, Ubersuggest, Moz, etc.)
• Confidence using WIX and interest in designing for user experience
• A good eye for layout, color, and structure (you don’t need to be a graphic designer, just thoughtful)
• Comfortable communicating in English; Italian is a bonus, but not required
• Independent, curious, and willing to learn and share ideas

Nice to Have

• Experience or interest in tourism, storytelling, or rural culture
• Passion for sustainability, travel, or community projects
• A desire to co-create something meaningful with a small, enthusiastic team
• The chance to shape a young project and see your work live on a real public platform

Time Commitment: Volunteer 4-6 hours per week for 3-5 months remotely 💻
