About The Role
We're hiring a Senior Software Engineer to own a feature area within our Product Engineering team. You'll be the engineer your product manager turns to for "is this possible, and how big is it", leading technical design for your area and seeing it through to production. You'll shape how your squad builds, mentor the engineers around you, and have real influence over what we ship for customers who depend on us to understand their cyber risk.
You'll join one of our 11 (and growing) Product Engineering squads, most of which have a product manager, designer and technical lead alongside the engineers.
Our stack is React and TypeScript on the front end, Go services with Postgres as our primary database, running on Kubernetes via Google Cloud Platform.
Our engineers work with agentic coding tools, mostly Claude Code and Cursor, and a growing part of the product is LLM-backed. You'll work this way from day one, and we'll want your ideas on what to automate next, from how we write code to how we test, review, ship and run it.
What You'll Do
- Own a feature area end to end, from design conversations with product through to production and follow-up
- Lead technical design for your area and drive the architectural decisions within it
- Work with product and design to shape what we build: what's possible, what it costs, and what should come first
- Mentor the engineers around you and lift the quality of the squad's code and decisions
- Improve the reliability, scalability and performance of the systems you own
- Go deep on the cybersecurity domain and bring that understanding into what we build
- Typically 5+ years of relevant engineering experience at tech-centric, product-driven companies
- Strong TypeScript and React
- A backend language you're productive in (we use Go)
- Solid relational database skills (we use Postgres)
- AI coding tools as your default workflow, and the judgment to review and own what they produce
- Pragmatic trade-offs: you weigh technical quality against what the business needs now
- Low ego, high care: you're in it for the product and the customer, not just the code
- A track record of leading technical design for a feature area and seeing it through to production
- Experience mentoring engineers and lifting the quality of the code and decisions around you
- Cybersecurity experience
- Running services on Kubernetes, ideally on GCP
- Building complex applications or systems from the ground up with a cross-functional team
- Owning a service in production: on-call, observability, and the judgment to know what to fix now and what can wait
