We are hiring our first in-house engineer to build the foundational architecture of our new engagement engine. You will own the entire technical stack initially, building the backend systems that will power the future of our product.

Our team is a lean team of proven former founders, operators, community builders – advised by a diverse mix of former unicorn startup operators, grassroots leaders, and entrepreneurship professors.

What you will build:

• A backend infrastructure that scales with our growth
• DB + data gathering & processing
• Integrations with APIs (LLMs, messaging & hosting platforms)

You're a Great Fit If You HaveMust-Haves:

• Scrappy problem-solver with startup DNA — You find creative solutions, ship fast, iterate, own outcomes, and thrive building from scratch in a moving environment
• 5+ years of backend or full-stack engineering experience
• Strong backend proficiency — You can build production-ready systems that scale
• API-first mindset — Experience designing, building, and integrating with APIs
• AI curiosity — You've worked with or experimented with LLM APIs and are comfortable integrating AI services into products
• Database expertise — Experience structuring data for complex relationships and matching systems
• Interest in social impact or purpose-driven tech

Nice-to-Haves:

• Experience building integrations with messaging platforms (Circle, WhatsApp, Slack)
• Background in recommendation or matchmaking systems
• Experience with vector databases or vector database services
• Previous work in B2B SaaS or community platforms

What this role is not

We want to make sure you are comfortable with what you’ll be signing up for.

• Not a management role. You'll be writing code daily, not managing a team or a roadmap
• Not a research scientist position. We're integrating existing AI services, not training models or doing ML research
• Not a siloed backend role. You'll touch frontend integrations, work with messaging APIs, and think about user experience
• Not a structured corporate environment. This is early-stage startup life. We move fast, product needs evolve, and you'll need to be comfortable making decisions with incomplete information
