Senior Android Engineer

Our client is seeking a Senior Android Engineer to lead development of a next-generation secure communications platform. They are a cybersecurity startup building encrypted communications technology for organizations where security and privacy are mission-critical. Their platform is used to support secure messaging, voice, video, and file sharing for government, defense, public safety, and other highly regulated environments. This is a hands-on engineering role for someone with deep Android expertise who has experience building, shipping, and maintaining production mobile applications. The role will be heavily focused on Android, Kotlin, Java, and Jetpack Compose, while collaborating closely with product and engineering teams to deliver highly secure and scalable mobile solutions.

Location: Remote

Compensation: $140,000 base plus competitive bonus

Required Skills & Experience

• 3+ years of experience building Android applications.
• Strong hands-on experience with Kotlin and Java.
• Experience building modern Android applications using Jetpack Compose.
• Strong understanding of the Android framework, architecture, and application lifecycle.
• Experience with Android development, testing, debugging, and deployment tools.
• Strong computer science fundamentals including data structures and algorithms.
• Experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and enhancing production mobile applications.
• Ability to work independently within a fully remote engineering environment.
• Strong attention to UI/UX and overall user experience.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working within government, defense, public safety, law enforcement, cybersecurity, or other highly regulated industries.
• Experience working with compliance frameworks such as HITRUST, HIPAA, SOC 2, ISO 27001, or FIPS 140.
• Interest or experience in cryptography, secure communications, or application security.
• Experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, or Node.js.
• DevOps experience with AWS, Jenkins, or Ansible.
• Startup experience preferred.

• Must be a US Citizen, no visa sponsorship available.
• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
