Our client, a leading organization in the data and cybersecurity space, is seeking a Data Platforms Security Engineer to strengthen and enhance the company’s enterprise data protection capabilities. This role supports the design, implementation, and operational stability of data security systems across hybrid environments, helping ensure compliance, visibility, and resilience in the organization’s data landscape.
Position Overview
The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in cybersecurity principles, data protection, and cloud security. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain secure configurations, monitor sensitive data, and enable automated detection and response through advanced security tooling and integrations.
Key ResponsibilitiesData Protection & DSPM
- Support the development and enhancement of Data Security Posture Management (DSPM) tools and frameworks.
- Design systems to identify and monitor sensitive data accessed by or used within large language models (LLMs).
Cloud Security Integration
- Implement and maintain secure configurations and controls across major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Collaborate with infrastructure teams to strengthen hybrid cloud security architectures.
Security Monitoring & Reporting
- Correlate Data Loss Prevention (DLP) events with SIEM/SOAR telemetry for proactive threat detection and automated response.
- Develop dashboards and reports tracking security metrics, access trends, and data risk indicators.
Compliance & Governance
- Apply metadata tagging and sensitivity labeling aligned with HIPAA, NIST, and ISO 27001 frameworks.
- Support audit readiness activities and policy enforcement to maintain regulatory compliance.
Operational Support
- Ensure the operational stability of server environments and assist with service requests.
- Maintain thorough documentation of standard operating procedures, configuration baselines, and release testing outcomes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, with 2–4 years of relevant experience.
- Equivalent experience demonstrating comparable knowledge, skills, and responsibilities will be considered.
Technical Expertise
- Cybersecurity Fundamentals: Deep understanding of confidentiality, integrity, availability, authentication, and non-repudiation.
- Access Control & Security Design: Skilled in implementing and maintaining access controls across diverse platforms.
- Data Protection & DSPM: Hands-on experience with tools that discover, classify, and monitor sensitive data in hybrid environments.
- Cloud Security: Proficient with AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud, including on-premises integrations.
- DLP, SIEM & SOAR Integration: Ability to connect DLP telemetry with SIEM/SOAR systems for incident correlation and automated response.
- Governance & Compliance: Experience applying security labeling and metadata tagging aligned to regulatory standards.
Preferred Certifications
- CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) – preferred
- Proofpoint Email Fraud Defense – preferred
- Security+, Cloud+, CEH, CHFI, or Microsoft/AWS Cloud certifications – highly valued
Soft Skills
- Analytical thinker with strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Capable of working independently while collaborating effectively with technical teams.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and proactive in identifying security gaps and opportunities for improvement.
