Senior Full Stack Engineer – Government Department (Security Cleared)

Fully Remote – 6 Month contract (UK-based only)

Clearance: Current Security Clearance is mandatory and must be proven before interview.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Full Stack Engineer to design, build, and operate secure, scalable, and accessible services. You’ll work across front-end and back-end systems, APIs, and integrations, delivering high-quality, well-tested code aligned with modern development standards.

Key Responsibilities

• End-to-end engineering: Develop standards-compliant front-end (JavaScript/HTML) and back-end services (Node.js, Spring Boot), design RESTful APIs, and build microservices with robust integrations.
• Integration & events: Work with relational/NoSQL databases (MongoDB/DocumentDB) and event streams (Kafka) ensuring reliability and idempotency
• Security by design: Implement IDAM/IdP, SSO, RBAC, SSL/TLS, and KMS; manage secrets safely and enforce least-privilege principles.
• Operability & telemetry: Build observable services with AWS monitoring (metrics, logs, traces), define SLOs, and maintain high availability.
• Modern delivery: Use Jira, Confluence, GitHub, and CI/CD pipelines with automated testing and security scans.

Essential Skills

• Front-end: JavaScript, HTML, responsive UI patterns.
• Back-end: Node.js, Spring Boot, RESTful API design, Kubernetes (EKS), Docker containerisation
• Integration: Event-driven design with Kafka; NoSQL (MongoDB/DocumentDB).
• Security: IDAM/IdP, SSO, RBAC, SSL/TLS, KMS, Graph API
• Cloud operability: AWS telemetry, performance monitoring.
• Tooling: Jira, Confluence, GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing.

Experience Profile

• Proven delivery of large-scale citizen or staff-facing services using JavaScript, Node.js, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and AWS.
• Proficiency in Kubernetes and Docker.
• Strong CI/CD discipline, security, and observability practices.
• Collaborative experience in multi-disciplinary teams meeting security, accessibility, and performance standards.
