The Opportunity
The firm is seeking an experienced Senior Rust Engineer to help design, build, and optimise the low-latency systems that power its live trading infrastructure.
You will work on performance-critical components responsible for market data ingestion, order execution, and trading system reliability. This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy solving complex systems challenges and care deeply about performance, concurrency, and low-level optimisation.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and own low-latency components written in Rust for production trading systems.
- Build high-performance market data and order execution infrastructure.
- Optimise systems for latency, determinism, and predictable performance.
- Analyse and improve memory layout, cache utilisation, and CPU efficiency.
- Develop concurrent and highly scalable services using appropriate synchronisation techniques.
- Profile, investigate, and resolve performance bottlenecks in production environments.
- Collaborate closely with traders and researchers to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.
- Make pragmatic engineering decisions in a fast-moving, performance-sensitive environment.
Requirements
- Strong commercial experience developing software in Rust.
- Deep understanding of systems programming concepts.
- Experience building high-performance, low-latency, or performance-critical applications.
- Strong knowledge of multithreading, concurrency, and synchronisation primitives.
- Understanding of memory management, CPU architecture, and performance optimisation techniques.
- Experience debugging and profiling production systems.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and a strong sense of ownership.
Nice to Have
- Experience within quantitative trading, financial markets, or high-frequency trading environments.
- Exposure to market data systems or electronic trading infrastructure.
- Knowledge of lock-free or low-contention system design.
- Experience building distributed or real-time systems.
- Strong Linux systems programming experience.
