Job Description

Posted on: November 27, 2025

Room 8 Group is an end-to-end strategic partner in external game development. Working across all platforms, we provide creative and technical expertise across game development, technology, art, trailers, and QA for AAA and AA games.

Our QA team specializes in both manual and automated testing, ensuring every game delivers a flawless experience for players. With expertise in bug testing, performance optimization, functionality checks and more, we guarantee top-quality results on any platform.

Through primarily organic growth, we are proudly independent, now home to around 1,100 creatives based in Europe, North America, and South America.

We are seeking an experienced SDET or Automation Engineer to contribute to the quality engineering efforts for a project of unprecedented scale and ambition: a next-generation, persistent interactive platform built upon a 1:1 procedurally generated world. This is a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology and help shape the future of interactive entertainment.

Superpowers you have:

  • 3+ years of professional experience in software development or a technical QA role (ideally, in a gaming context).
  • Proven experience in improving test automation frameworks or designing and implementing them from scratch.
  • Extensive, hands-on experience with Unreal Engine is required
  • Excellent programming skills in both C# (for writing tests and improving the testing solution library) and C++ (for working in Unreal and the implementation on the engine side).
  • Proficiency with .NET testing frameworks such as NUnit or xUnit.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g. Jenkins, GitLab CI, TeamCity).
  • Familiarity with test management and bug tracking software (e.g. JIRA, TestRail).
  • Strong experience in version control systems: Git and Perforce.
  • Demonstrable experience with API testing and automation (ideally, in a gaming context).
  • A proactive and collaborative mindset, with a strong ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment, but also autonomously.
  • A strong sense of ownership and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • An eagerness to learn new technologies and continuously improve your skills.
  • English Proficiency: Advanced level, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

You’re a rockstar if you have:

  • Familiarity with the GameDriver or AltTester test automation tools or similar.
  • Familiarity with the challenges of validating non-deterministic systems (like Generative AI).
  • A passion for AI, a desire to work with AI/LLM systems, or an interest in data science/machine learning would be highly valued.

Becoming part of Room 8 Group, you will:

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable test automation frameworks and infrastructure for a large-scale, persistent world.
  • Create and implement automated tests for new and existing game features, APIs, and services, including those driven by AI.
  • Contribute to integration of automated testing into Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to provide rapid feedback to the development teams.
  • Develop custom tools and utilities to improve testing efficiency, reporting, and defect analysis for a highly complex and dynamic environment.
  • Collaborate closely with developers, designers, Test Automation Engineers and QA analysts to identify automation opportunities and ensure comprehensive test coverage.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to the Test Automation Engineers on the effective use of our test automation frameworks and tools, including GameDriver.
  • Champion code quality and best practices through active participation in code reviews for both game code and test automation code.
  • Investigate and debug complex technical issues, and contribute to the resolution of technical challenges, particularly those related to non-deterministic systems.
  • Stay current with the latest trends and technologies in game development, test automation, and quality assurance.

Join the team of inspiring game dev professionals, and get even more:

  • Competitive financial reward (yes, we are fair enough);
  • Challenges to raise your XPs score working on the projects of the top global game dev publishers;
  • Private medical care, paid time off;
  • A culture of diversity and inclusion to unite the most outstanding talents;
  • Community of people who understand and share your passion for games.

Together we will bring games to the next level. Exactly with you.
