Senior Data Engineer - Microsoft Fabric & dbt | Immediate start | 2-3 month contract
We're looking for an experienced, hands-on Senior Data Engineer with strong Microsoft Fabric and dbt expertise to support the final stages of a Microsoft Fabric implementation.
The foundational architecture and ingestion frameworks have already been established by an external consulting partner. We now need a specialist who can hit the ground running, complete the remaining implementation work and ensure the environment is production ready.
Key Responsibilities:
- Finalise and optimise the existing Microsoft Fabric implementation, including Lakehouse architecture and Bronze/Silver/Gold data layers.
- Implement dbt for data transformation, modelling and pipeline development.
- Extend metadata-driven ingestion frameworks and integrate data from systems including Salesforce, and other enterprise applications.
- Develop and troubleshoot data pipelines, APIs and connectivity solutions.
- Support CI/CD, source control, deployment pipelines and Fabric Variable Libraries.
- Collaborate with a small internal data team to ensure a smooth handover.
What We're Looking For:
- Proven hands-on Microsoft Fabric implementation experience.
- Strong dbt, SQL/T-SQL and Python skills.
- Experience with medallion architecture, Lakehouse and metadata-driven ingestion frameworks.
- Strong understanding of data integration, APIs and pipeline development.
- Azure DevOps, CI/CD and Fabric Variable Libraries experience highly regarded.
- Ability to work independently, troubleshoot complex issues and deliver within tight timeframes.
This is a delivery-focused contract suited to someone who has implemented Microsoft Fabric in production and can quickly take ownership of an existing environment.
