Senior Software Engineer (Full-Time, Remote)

We're building Germany's legal operating system. We're looking for someone who ships.

RAKETENSTART is the fastest way to start, run, and close a business in Germany. We've processed 1,000+ company formations, automated notarial processes end-to-end, and built legal infrastructure founders actually want to use. Now we're scaling into a full business OS for SMEs.

Small, senior team. Fast decisions. No bureaucracy, no design-by-committee, no politics.

The Role

You work directly with our development team and our founder Madeleine on core product. You own features end-to-end, from schema to deployment. You build the infrastructure that handles real legal workflows, real money, real compliance.

Not a role for someone who wants tickets handed to them. A role for someone who scopes, builds, and ships.

What You'll Do

• Design and build features across the full stack, end-to-end
• Own database schemas, API routes, frontend components, deployment
• Integrate payments, email, CRM, notarial and identity services
• Handle webhooks, edge cases, and production reliability
• Write migrations, debug production issues, design for scale
• Review code, push back on bad decisions, raise flags early

What We ExpectTechnical

• Senior-level experience shipping production web apps
• Next.js (App Router), TypeScript, Tailwind, deep React knowledge
• Supabase or similar: PostgreSQL, RLS, Auth, Storage, Edge Functions, Realtime
• Stripe integrations: checkout, webhooks, subscriptions
• Third-party API and webhook handling in production
• Git fluency: branches, PRs, rebasing, code review
• Vercel or similar: preview deployments, env vars, serverless functions

Mindset

• You ship. You don't need tasks broken into micro-pieces.
• You write simple, maintainable code. You follow existing patterns.
• You don't over-engineer. You don't add abstractions before they're needed.
• You take ownership. You communicate when you're blocked.
• Fluent English is a minimum. German is a plus, not required.

Personal Requirements

• Remote within EU/EEA only. You must have the legal right to work in an EU member state.

AI-Native

This is where most candidates fall out. Read carefully.

We build with AI. Claude Code, Cursor, whatever ships fastest. Not a gimmick, not trendy, but because a senior engineer with the right tools today delivers what a team of three delivered two years ago.

We want to see how deep you've gone:

• How do you structure prompts?
• How do you review AI-generated code?
• When do you trust it, when do you rewrite it?
• What have you shipped with AI assistance that you couldn't have shipped alone?

If you see AI tools as a replacement for understanding, this is not the right role. If you see them as a force multiplier, we want to talk.
