Senior Data Engineer | Remote (UK) | £80,000 - £90,000
Peaple Talent is partnering with a leading organisation to recruit a Senior Data Engineer specialising in Data Modelling.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Data Engineer who is passionate about the craft of dimensional modelling and enjoys turning complex, messy source data into clear, trusted data models that the wider business can rely on.
You'll play a key role within the data engineering community, working closely with business stakeholders to understand real-world processes and translate them into intuitive, domain-aligned dimensional models. From there, you'll design and evolve Kimball-style models, build transformations and semantic layers in dbt, and help establish best practice across the wider engineering team.
This is a hands-on, deeply technical position where you'll have the opportunity to influence how data is modelled, understood and used across a large and complex organisation.
What You'll Bring:
- Several years of hands-on experience designing and delivering dimensional data models within production data warehouse environments
- Strong experience with Kimball methodology, including facts, dimensions, grain and conformed dimensions
- Proven ability to translate business processes and stakeholder requirements into clear, scalable and domain-aligned data models
- Strong SQL skills and deep practical experience using dbt for data transformation and modelling
- Experience working with slowly changing dimensions, late-arriving facts and wider dimensional modelling principles
- A strong understanding of data quality, testing and documentation
- Ability to communicate modelling decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- A genuine passion for clean data design, sensible modelling practices and building models that stand the test of time
Nice to Have:
- Experience working with Snowflake
- Familiarity with orchestration tools such as Airflow
- Experience with TDD, DevOps and CI/CD within data or analytics engineering environments
- Python experience
- Experience working with AI coding tools to support and accelerate engineering delivery
- Experience working within remote-first, collaborative engineering teams
