Job Description We are looking for a Senior Database Expert with deep expertise in PostgreSQL and DynamoDB on the cloud (preferably AWS RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB). The ideal candidate will be responsible for analyzing our existing database architecture, identifying areas of improvement, and designing scalable, high-performance solutions that align with our business and technical goals. Key Responsibilities:

• Assess and document the current PostgreSQL and DynamoDB structures, schemas, and data flows.
• Identify performance bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and risks (scalability, availability, security).
• Propose and implement database optimizations, including indexing strategies, normalization/denormalization decisions, and partitioning/sharding if required.
• Design a scalable hybrid architecture leveraging both relational (Postgres) and NoSQL (DynamoDB) databases.
• Optimize query performance, storage costs, and backup/restore strategies for both database types.
• Collaborate with developers and DevOps teams to ensure smooth integration with applications and CI/CD pipelines.
• Provide guidance on monitoring, alerting, and disaster recovery planning.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience with PostgreSQL administration and performance tuning.
• Strong experience with AWS DynamoDB, including data modeling (partition keys, sort keys), capacity planning (on-demand vs. provisioned), and stream processing.
• Proven track record of database architecture design and optimization for high-traffic, production workloads.
• Expertise in cloud database solutions, preferably AWS (RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, Redshift experience is a plus).
• Strong understanding of data modeling, indexing, replication, and backup strategies for both SQL and NoSQL.
• Proficiency in analyzing slow queries, query execution plans, and implementing improvements.
• Familiarity with database security best practices and compliance requirements.
• Experience with infrastructure as code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation) is a plus.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to present recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Additional Information Nice-to-Have

• Knowledge of other database technologies (NoSQL beyond DynamoDB, e.g., MongoDB).
• Experience with data migration and hybrid architecture transitions (SQL ? NoSQL).
• Familiarity with monitoring tools (pg_stat_statements, AWS CloudWatch, Datadog, Grafana).
