This role will focus on building and scaling backend services that support AI workloads, with an emphasis on reliability, security, and operational excellence. You will partner closely with infrastructure and security teams to create the guardrails, governance, and tooling needed to support production AI systems. The position also offers the opportunity to shape engineering standards, influence architecture across teams, and improve the developer experience for critical platform capabilities.

Compensation: $173,000 – $255,000 annually
Responsibilities
- Plan and execute technical projects from design through launch and on-call support
- Design and build secure gateways and evaluation services for AI workloads
- Implement governance for AI spend, including identity and routing controls
- Collaborate with security and infrastructure teams to establish guardrails for workloads
- Monitor system metrics and ensure operational health through alerting and runbooks
- Set and advocate for code review and design standards across teams
- Mentor engineers and promote best practices in design, coding, and testing
- 4+ years of experience in backend system design and development using Python or Kotlin
- Proven track record building highly available distributed systems with AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes
- Hands-on experience with LLMs, agents, or AI frameworks in production environments
- Strong understanding of AI infrastructure and its application across various disciplines
- Ability to define technical plans for significant features with elegant and extensible designs
- Proficient in making substantial changes in large codebases with safe practices
