Role Description

As our Sr. Web Developer, you’ll own the technical development and optimization of our Glamnetic Shopify storefronts (US and UK) while leading and mentoring a team of two junior developers. You’ll collaborate closely with the marketing, design, and E-commerce teams to build high-converting, performant, and visually compelling shopping experiences. This role blends deep Shopify expertise with strong front-end development skills, people management, and a passion for e-commerce innovation.

Team Leadership & Management

• Directly manage, mentor, and develop a team of two junior web developers, fostering their technical growth and career progression
• Conduct regular 1:1s, set clear goals and expectations, and provide constructive feedback through formal and informal performance reviews
• Plan and delegate work across the team, balancing workloads while ensuring high-quality output and on-time delivery
• Establish and maintain development standards, code review processes, and documentation practices for the team
• Lead technical decision-making and architecture discussions, helping junior developers understand the “why” behind implementation choices
• Create a supportive team culture that encourages questions, experimentation, and continuous learning

Technical Responsibilities

• Build, maintain, and optimize custom Shopify themes using Liquid, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript across our US and UK storefronts
• Develop and implement custom Shopify sections, blocks, and metafield-driven templates that empower the marketing team to manage content independently
• Collaborate with the E-commerce team to implement A/B tests, conversion experiments, and checkout optimizations
• Integrate and troubleshoot third-party apps and tools (e.g., Rebuy, Klaviyo, Google Tag Manager, GA4, Judge.me, Gorgias)
• Ensure site performance, Core Web Vitals, and page speed remain best-in-class through code optimization, lazy loading, and asset management
• Implement structured data / schema markup for SEO and emerging AI discoverability (e.g., llms.txt, product JSON-LD)
• Using LLMs/AI to automate internal cross-departmental tasks and pull data from different sources using MCP’s
• Own the technical execution of new product launches, landing pages, and promotional campaigns on tight timelines
• Comfortable using metrics to inform site strategy on SEO/GEO, Page speed, and decision making 
• Debug and resolve cross-browser, cross-device, and platform-specific issues
• Manage version control (Git) and maintain clean, well-documented codebases
• Stay current with Shopify platform updates, new APIs, and evolving e-commerce best practices
• Using available metrics and data sources to make decisions on SEO/GEO strategies
• Comfortable with building and maintaining custom shopify apps using native shopify API’s

Requirements & Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional web development experience, with 3+ years focused on Shopify / Shopify Plus
• 1+ years of experience managing, mentoring, or technically leading other developers
• Expert-level proficiency in Shopify Liquid, HTML5, CSS3/SCSS, and vanilla JavaScript
• Strong understanding of Shopify’s theme architecture, Online Store 2.0 features, sections, blocks, and metafields
• Experience with Shopify’s Storefront API, Admin API, and Checkout Extensibility
• Proficiency with Git version control and CI/CD workflows
• Solid understanding of responsive design, mobile-first development, and web accessibility standards (WCAG)
• Experience implementing and debugging analytics tracking (GA4, GTM, Facebook Pixel / CAPI)
• Demonstrated ability to break down complex projects into clear tasks and delegate effectively
• Strong communication skills and comfort collaborating cross-functionally with non-technical stakeholders

Nice to Have

• Experience with headless commerce architectures (e.g., Next.js + Shopify Storefront API)
• Familiarity with conversion rate optimization tools and A/B testing platforms (e.g., Optimizely, VWO, or Intelligems)
• Experience with Shopify Flow, Shopify Functions, or Shopify Scripts
• Knowledge of Python for data scripting, automation, or tooling
• Familiarity with email marketing platforms (Klaviyo) and their integration with Shopify
• Experience working with Shopify Markets or international multi-store Shopify setups
• Interest in AI/LLM-powered commerce and emerging e-commerce technologies
• Experience with ticketing systems like Clickup or Asana
• Prior experience in a DTC or high-growth e-commerce environment
• Experience with automation technologies like Make, Zapier or N8N
• Experience with the following apps: Metafields Guru, Rebuy Personalization Engine, Matrixify, Inveterate, Bloggle Complete Blog Builder, Histora, Schema Plus for SEO, Hyperspeed, Stockist Store Locator, and Visually | A/B Testing & CRO.
