Sr Software Engineer, Client Applications

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to develop the next-generation of Jeppesen Distribution Manager (JDM) for desktop and mobile devices, the application pilots use to load Jeppesen aviation data onto avionics systems. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who has built mission-critical desktop and mobile applications using both native platform technologies and cross-platform frameworks, and who is comfortable working at the intersection of product reliability, device integration, modern application architecture, and AI-augmented or agentic software development. This role is remote-friendly, with preference given to candidates based in the Denver, CO or Austin, TX metro areas, as you'll need to be in office on a schedule ranging from quarterly to every other month. Candidates residing outside these regions should be willing and able to travel to an office location on that same basis.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead development of JDM's desktop and mobile applications, driving feature parity with the legacy app while improving architecture, reliability, and performance
• Lead the development of JDM’s mobile applications
• Build robust workflows for writing aviation data to USB drives, SD cards, and other avionics media, supporting OEM ecosystems
• Define long-term desktop application architecture and establish effective AI-assisted engineering practices
• Collaborate with product managers, QA engineers, avionics specialists, DevOps, and other engineering teams to deliver a production-ready customer experience
  
  
  

Required Qualifications

• Proficiency in systems or backend language (e.g. Rust, C++, C, Java, Kotlin, Swift)
• Strong frontend experience (React or similar)
• Hands-on cross-platform desktop framework experience (Tauri, Electron, or similar) or cross-platform mobile framework experience (React Native, Flutter, or similar)
• Solid native platform knowledge (macOS, Windows, Linux, iOS, Android), including packaging, signing, and filesystem/device access
• Extensive experience building production desktop or mobile applications in mission-critical environments
• Experience with filesystems, removable media, binary formats, or device-specific data preparation workflows
• Strong testing mindset and ability to diagnose complex, device-dependent production issues
• Experience using AI coding assistants while maintaining strong engineering judgment and code ownership
• Able to operate independently as a senior individual contributor, with strong communication skills
  
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Tauri, Rust, and React in a production environment
• Experience with both desktop and mobile application development
• Aviation, avionics, or navigation/charting data experience
• Experience with code signing/notarization and cross-platform CI/CD release pipelines
• Experience with mobile app store release pipelines and CI/CD
• Experience with hardware/device lab testing
• Experience establishing safe agentic engineering workflows for complex codebases and production systems

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well market and business considerations: Summary Pay Range: $131,000-$160,000
