Data Engineer

Data Migration Engineer | UK Remote | NPPV3 Required | No Sponsorship

Enterprise Data Migration | SQL | Public Sector | Remote

We're supporting a major UK public sector transformation programme and are looking for 2 experienced Data Migration Engineers to join the team on a 9-month contract (Outside IR35).

If you've successfully delivered large-scale enterprise data migration projects and enjoy solving complex data challenges, we'd love to hear from you. This role centres around migrating data from legacy systems into a modern public safety platform, ensuring data integrity, quality and accuracy throughout the migration lifecycle.

📍 Location: Remote (UK)

💰 £350-£400 Outside IR35

⏰ 9-month contract - probable extension

What You'll Be Doing

Your primary focus will be delivering end-to-end data migration activities, including:

• Leading data analysis across legacy and target systems
• Profiling data and identifying quality issues before migration
• Defining and validating data mappings
• Writing complex SQL queries to extract, transform and reconcile data
• Supporting migration planning, execution and validation
• Investigating and resolving migration and data quality issues
• Producing migration documentation, mapping specifications and validation reports
• Working closely with technical teams, business stakeholders and customers to ensure successful migration outcomes

Essential Experience

We're looking for someone who can demonstrate:

✅ Significant experience delivering enterprise-scale data migration projects from planning through to delivery

✅ Strong SQL skills, including:

• Complex joins
• Data extraction
• Data transformation
• Data validation
• Data reconciliation

✅ Experience with:

• Data mapping
• Migration planning
• Data quality assessment
• Legacy system migrations

✅ Strong stakeholder management and communication skills

✅ Experience working with sensitive or regulated datasets

Highly Desirable

⭐ Previous experience within Public Safety, Policing, Criminal Justice, Government or similarly regulated environments

⭐ Experience with Form.io or similar low-code data capture platforms

Mandatory Requirements

To be considered you must have:

🔒 Current NPPV3 Clearance

🇬🇧 Minimum 5 years continuous UK residency
