What we’re looking for

We’re looking for a Product and R&D Data Scientist who can move fast, think rigorously, and add analytical breadth and depth to our platform. A voluntary role with the potential for paid opportunities, working with hyfen8 provides you with a rare opportunity to learn and and grow from an exciting tech start up centred on datascience! Working with our product, data science and engineering teams, you will build and test data science models, productionise financial and business models. You’ll also get to build machine learning processes, build and test applied NLP, sentiment analytics and train back-end agents, rapidly expanding the data science kitchen from which our hyfen8 platform sources its insights.

What you’ll do:

• Design and run Databricks pipelines that transform inputs into usable signals
• Apply analytics and modelling to uncover business performance drivers and value multipliers
• Build models, NLP workflows, and GenAI-powered analytics ready for productisation
• Train hyfen8 backend agents using data science models and reasoning guardrails
• Drive exploratory R&D while ensuring outputs can embed cleanly into our SaaS platform
• Collaborate with engineering and product teams
• Translate use cases into actionable customer insights.

The skills and experience you’ll have:

• Advanced quantitative methods and statistical analysis skills
• Experience with GenAI, NLP, and machine learning in applied settings
• Proven skills in Python, SQL and data visualisation
• Hands-on experience with Databricks for data engineering, analytics, and ML workflows
• A pragmatic approach: test fast, extract insight, refine, deploy
• Ability to operate independently while contributing to a high-velocity team
• (Bonus) background in econometrics, financial and/or business analytics.
