ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
We are looking for a Java Developer to contribute to software development initiatives in the insurance sector. This is a fully remote opportunity based in Portugal, focused on developing and enhancing business applications that support insurance operations. You will work within a collaborative Agile environment, contributing to reliable, scalable and maintainable software solutions.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Design, develop and maintain Java-based applications supporting insurance business processes.
- Collaborate with Product Owners, technical teams and stakeholders to analyze business needs and define technical solutions.
- Develop scalable and maintainable software components, ensuring code quality and application performance.
- Implement and optimize data storage and retrieval using relational and NoSQL databases.
- Support continuous integration and deployment processes using Azure DevOps.
- Participate in Scrum activities, contributing to iterative development and consistent software delivery.
- Perform code reviews, troubleshoot technical issues and contribute to continuous improvement of development practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment between technical implementation and business requirements.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- More than 4 years of professional experience in Java software development.
- Academic background in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field.
- Experience delivering software solutions in Agile development environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with attention to software quality and maintainability.
- Ability to work autonomously, manage technical responsibilities and collaborate effectively in distributed teams.
- Clear communication skills and a proactive approach to knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Java development and object-oriented programming.
- SQL databases, including database design and query optimization.
- MongoDB and NoSQL data management.
- Azure DevOps for development collaboration and CI/CD processes.
- Agile software development methodologies, particularly Scrum.
- Software debugging, code review and performance optimization.
- Software development lifecycle and maintainability best practices.
