Job Description

Posted on: April 26, 2025

To support the ambitions of FAIRTIQ, we are modernizing our mobile ecosystem and ways of working. This includes creating a mobile developer platform team, focused on empowering our mobile teams, while also reducing their cognitive load. The platform team will develop and own a set of tools, services, and infrastructure that provide APIs, improve CI/CD pipelines, and create other resources to streamline app development and deployment. These efforts will be extremely valuable for our mobile apps (FAIRTIQ, FTQ Lab, Rejsekort) and our SDK.

Your primary stakeholders will be FAIRTIQ’s mobile developers. You will collaborate with iOS and Android engineers, improving the developer experience and building self-service internal products.

FAIRTIQ has a growing user base of more than 1.2 million active users, and we’re not done yet! In this role, you will need to think about treating internal APIs and tools as products, designing for ease of use and reuse, ensuring great documentation and discoverability, defining stable contracts and testing strategies, building for observability and debuggability, and striking the right balance between opinionated defaults and flexibility for mobile teams.

Role Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain reusable libraries and services to streamline mobile development and promote consistency across iOS and Android teams
  • Partner with mobile development teams to understand their needs, and streamline their workflows
  • Build and optimize self-service tools and automated pipelines (CI/CD) that enable mobile engineers to ship features quickly and reliably
  • Design, implement and maintain observability solutions for mobile apps including logging, metrics, traces, and crash reporting, empowering teams to diagnose and resolve issues efficiently
  • Advocate for continuous improvement by regularly reviewing and refining the platform’s architecture, services, and APIs in alignment with evolving business and technical needs
  • Collaborate with security and infrastructure stakeholders to enforce secure defaults and compliance requirements within the mobile developer platform
  • Mentor and support mobile engineering teams
  • Monitor platform performance and reliability

Some examples of recent and future work that might help you get a better idea of what this job entails:

  • Support the modularization of our SDKs with tooling
  • Fully automate and simplify the release processes for our Apps and SDKs
  • Extend the range of data mobile engineers have access to, and help data-driven decision making
  • Improve test quality and tooling
  • Enable open-sourcing our products
  • …and many more!

Who are we looking for?

  • BSc or MSc in Computer Science or another related field
  • At least 5 years of relevant professional experience
  • Knowledge of the Android ecosystem, including platform guidelines, Jetpack libraries, Android SDK components, and modern development practices
  • Experience with developer tooling or platform engineering, including CI/CD and build systems
  • Experience developing for iOS is a plus, being able to collaborate closely with iOS engineers is a must
  • Interest in cross-platform technologies is a must, experience with any of them is a plus
  • Experience with observability tools is a plus
  • Strong software design skills
  • Analytical thinking
  • Good team player
  • Creative, self-confident, independent
  • Willing to learn and adapt to new technologies
  • Excellent English speaking and writing skills
  • Based in Europe

  • Flexible working hours
