Job Description

Posted on: May 18, 2025

ETU helps the world’s leading companies measure and develop skills to drive business performance. Employees apply workplace skills in realistic scenarios in ETU’s simulation platform, which measures their strengths and gaps.

As a key member of our Product team, reporting to the Chief Product Officer, you will drive the development of our next-generation simulation creation capabilities. Leveraging the power of generative AI, you’ll help push the boundaries of immersive learning. As Technical Product Owner, you’ll work closely with Product, Engineering, and business stakeholders to translate client needs into innovative, technically sound solutions. You will guide product discovery, define clear and testable requirements, and shape the product backlog with a strong focus on technical excellence, system architecture alignment, and sustainable delivery.

Ideally, you will have EdTech experience or experience in delivering B2B SaaS products.

As a Technical Product Owner, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading domain discovery practices (e.g., user story mapping, event storming) to collaboratively uncover and shape requirements.
  • Formulating clear, testable acceptance criteria using techniques such as example mapping and Gherkin syntax.
  • Defining, prioritizing, and managing a technical product backlog, including technical enablers, non-functional requirements, and technical debt.
  • Translating business needs into detailed technical stories, ensuring feasibility and clarity for the development team.
  • Collaborating with architects and engineers to align backlog priorities with the overall system architecture and strategic direction.
  • Providing technical insights and guidance to support sound engineering decisions and identify early technical risks.
  • Facilitating effective communication between technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring shared understanding and transparency.
  • Ensuring technical debt surfaced by Engineering is appropriately represented and prioritized in the product backlog.

Experience required:

  • Proven experience as a Technical Product Owner or Technical Product Manager, with a relevant degree or master's qualification, and at least 3 years of hands-on experience.
  • Strong technical foundation combined with a deep understanding of Agile methodologies, backlog management, and iterative software delivery.
  • Expertise in collaborative domain modeling, domain-driven design, and managing non-functional requirements such as performance and security.
  • Exceptional ability to translate complex technical concepts for both technical and non-technical audiences and foster strong cross-functional collaboration.
  • Demonstrated track record of delivering innovative, technically robust products from initial discovery through to release.

Company Description:
