With rapid growth ahead, we’re scaling our engineering organization and need a steady, capable leader to help us get there.

Position Overview

We’re hiring an Engineering Manager to help scale our growing engineering team, improve delivery systems, and enable our engineers to do their best work. You’ll act as the connective tissue between product, design, and engineering, balancing delivery, people, and process.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who’s as comfortable in architecture discussions as they are in one-on-ones. You’ll partner closely with our CTO, JP Grace, as the first engineering manager, helping manage a team of 5-6 engineers now and supporting the evolution into two teams over the next year.

You’ll bring structure without bureaucracy, clarity without micromanagement, and calm focus as the company continues to grow.

What You’ll AccomplishIn your first 6 months, you’ll…

  • Build trust across the engineering team and establish yourself as a respected, supportive leader.
  • Take ownership of sprint planning, retros, and delivery rhythms that balance speed and quality.
  • Partner with Product and CX to align priorities and strengthen cross-functional collaboration.
  • Begin improving team processes and documentation to create more predictable outcomes.

In your first year, you’ll…

  • Help scale the engineering org into two high-functioning teams (Application and Integrations).
  • Strengthen engineering culture through clear communication, mentorship, and operational excellence.
  • Drive consistency in development practices, code reviews, and release processes.

You’ll Thrive in This Role If You…

  • Have 10+ years of experience in software engineering, including 3+ years as an Engineering Manager or CTO in a startup environment.
  • Enjoy building strong teams and mentoring engineers toward their best work.
  • Are technically credible and can guide architectural and design discussions without being a bottleneck.
  • Communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Thrive in ambiguity and can bring structure and focus to a fast-paced environment.
  • Lead with empathy, curiosity, and a focus on outcomes.
  • Value autonomy, ownership, and continuous improvement.

About the Team

You’ll partner with:

  • JP Grace (CTO): Manager and strategic partner, collaborating on priorities and structure.
  • Engineering Team: 6 full-stack engineers (expanding over the next 12 months).
  • Product & Design: Partner on roadmap alignment and delivery quality.
  • Customer Support: Improve internal processes and communication around product issues.

We’re a small, fast-moving, and highly collaborative team. Everyone operates with high ownership and autonomy, and your leadership will directly shape how Endear scales.
