Lead Project Manager

About the Role:

The Senior Lead Project Manager at DigitlHaus Agency is a senior, hands-on project management role with a clear growth path into a Director of Project Management position. This role will initially operate as a Senior Project Manager owning and delivering complex Shopify and BigCommerce projects while progressively taking on leadership, mentorship, and operational responsibilities that prepare them to lead and manage the project management team.

This position is ideal for an experienced agency project manager who excels in execution but is ready to step into leadership, systems ownership, and team management over time.

Responsibilities:Project Leadership & Execution

• Manage Shopify and BigCommerce custom design and development projects, including:
• Medium to large custom builds
• Migrations and replatforming
• Integrations and headless projects
• Ongoing managed services engagements
• Create full project lifecycles from SOWs within the project management system.
• Build and manage detailed project plans, timelines, and task assignments.
• Ensure all deliverables are completed on time, within scope, and aligned with SOW requirements
• Manage the full design process from kickoff through approval while coordinating internal designers and client feedback.
• Prepare projects for development by briefing internal teams on scope, requirements, and design intent.
• Support and answer platform and technical questions related to Shopify, BigCommerce, and eCommerce architecture.
• Oversee QA testing, development reviews, deployment, and final project delivery.
• Train and consult clients on platform best practices and post-launch considerations.
• Monitor project risks, priorities, and urgent issues, acting quickly to resolve blockers.

Team Leadership & Growth (Progressive Responsibility)

As this role matures, the Senior Lead Project Manager will:

• Begin mentoring and supporting other project managers.
• Assist with workload planning, task distribution, and capacity balancing across PMs.
• Act as a point of escalation for complex project challenges or client issues.
• Help refine and improve project management workflows, tools, templates, and SOPs.
• Participate in post-project reviews to identify wins, challenges, and improvement opportunities.
• Collaborate closely with design, development, and operations leadership to strengthen cross-functional alignment.
• Prepare to step into broader ownership of the project management function as the agency grows.

Client Communication & Relationship Management

• Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned client accounts.
• Lead client meetings, status calls, and milestone reviews with confidence and clarity.
• Manage client expectations around scope, timelines, risks, and deliverables.
• Resolve conflicts professionally while protecting both the client relationship and agency interests
• Support leadership in high-profile or escalated client situations when needed.

Requirements & Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional project management experience in an eCommerce or digital agency.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience managing Shopify and BigCommerce projects.
• Direct experience managing design and development teams.
• Strong understanding of:
• UX and design fundamentals
• eCommerce architecture, features, and integrations
• Agile and waterfall methodologies
• Experience with project management tools such as Basecamp, Monday.com, Asana, Jira, or similar.
• Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
• Strong organizational, prioritization, and negotiation skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Comfortable leading client calls via phone and video.
• Demonstrated initiative with a “maker” mindset able to identify problems and take ownership of solutions.
• Experience with conflict resolution and stakeholder management.
