Job Description

Posted on: July 14, 2025

Beacon Biosignals is on a mission to revolutionize precision medicine for the brain. We are the leading at-home EEG platform supporting clinical development of novel therapeutics for neurological, psychiatric, and sleep disorders. Our FDA 510(k)-cleared Dreem EEG headband and AI algorithms enable quantitative biomarker discovery and implementation. Beacon’s Clinico-EEG database contains EEG data from nearly 100,000 patients, and our cloud-native analytics platform powers large-scale RWD/RWE retrospective and predictive studies. Beacon Biosignals is changing the way that patients are treated for any disorder that affects brain physiology. As a Senior Mobile App Engineer, you’ll help power Beacon's mission by building cross-platform apps that interface with our EEG headbands and other wearables to capture high-fidelity data and enable seamless experiences for patients and clinicians. This isn’t just another app — you’ll be crafting tools that help unlock insights into neurological, psychiatric, and sleep disorders, with the potential to improve lives at scale. Beacon's robust asynchronous work practices ensure a first-class remote work experience, but we also have in-person office hubs located in Boston and New York. For this position we will consider candidates based anywhere in the US Eastern time zone. What Success Looks Like As part of our small, mission-driven Mobile Apps Team, you will:

  • Develop our React Native mobile applications, as well as our native iOS and Android BLE device SDKs.
  • Design and implement UX workflows for clinical trial participants and at-home diagnostic patients.
  • Own the user experience, app performance, reliability, and observability of the apps and features you develop, leveraging feedback from real users in a diverse set of use cases and environments.
  • Partner with our Devices team, other Platform teams, and product designers to develop user-centric mobile app capabilities that are deeply integrated with the rest of Beacon’s product ecosystem.
  • Help shape the roadmap and technical direction of our mobile platform.

In Your First 3–6 Months, You Might

  • Build a new in-app feature to validate EEG signal quality before data capture.
  • Improve BLE pairing and reconnection reliability across both iOS and Android.
  • Streamline onboarding for new patients and trial participants to help make our devices easier to use than ever.
  • Deploy new features to help our Clinical Operations team track compliance.

What You Will Bring You’ll be a great fit if you have:

  • 8+ years of experience in mobile development (React Native and/or native iOS/Android).
  • Experience working with BLE, sensor integration, or health data streams.
  • A product mindset — you care deeply about UX, edge cases, and performance.
  • Familiarity with our tech stack (TypeScript, React Native, Swift, Kotlin, Expo, GitHub)
  • Strong communication skills and comfort working in a collaborative, async environment

Bonus Points If You've

  • Worked with medical devices, EEG, or wearables.
  • Integrated BLE peripheral devices into iOS and/or Android applications.
  • Written native code extensively for either iOS or Android, in addition to React Native.
  • Worked on apps for clinical trials, patients, or in some other regulated environment.
  • Contributed to open source mobile or BLE projects.

At Beacon, we've found that cultural and scientific impact is driven most by those that lead by example. As such, we're always seeking new contributors whose work demonstrates an avid curiosity, a bias towards simplicity, an eye for composability, a self-service mindset, and - most of all - a deep empathy towards colleagues, stakeholders, users, and patients. We believe a diverse team builds more robust systems and achieves higher impact.
